Description

Originally posted this on Tumblr, but I think it's so useful that I want to share it here too.

(NOTE: Depending on what version of the programs you're using, the keymapper may not be necessary. Also, I'm left-handed so you won't need to go swapping sides if you're a rightie)

After years of fine tuning, I decided to make a quick guide based on the number pad shortcuts I use. This may seem lazy, but you don’t realize how much time you waste reaching around the keyboard to activate something that is supposed to be a “shortcut”. I can personally attest that using a number pad has cut HOURS of time off my work in the long run.

  • Special thanks to this Instructable for the original idea: www.instructables.com/id/Makin… (I personally don’t bother with the stickers. After a few days, muscle memory takes over and you won’t even look at the keys anymore)
  • This is the keymapper I’m using, since I couldn’t get the one in the above link to work, but any one will do: utilfr42.free.fr/util/Clavier.…
  • Color picker shortcut script (not necessary for CS5 onward) : www.groovypost.com/howto/groov…

Not gonna bother linking to the exact keypad I use since it’s currently unavailable on Amazon, but you can use any one you want. Most are under 20$
