I don't know how to paint so I decided to try figuring it out some.

I also figured it would probably be better to try doing it with comic fan art because I'd be using an established character with a simplified design.

Butterworm is from a comic series from the 2000s called Courtney Crumrin.
He's a goblin who eats kids. No, really. He didn't buy that hoodie.

I think it's a comic that's worth reading if you're down with, like, cynical Harry Potter that's got better world-building and writing and stuff and isn't centered around school. It's pretty cool. In terms of how it approaches mythology and magic, it's very based on European folklore and sticks fairly close to mythology.
