Maneko & Asali
The epitome of true love. Maneko and Asali were childhood sweethearts, who loved each other very much. They were just starting a family when Asali got caught in an Ibutho raid. She was taken prisoner, collared, and sold into slavery. It's discovered she is pregnant. When the child was born, he was taken away from her immediately. She never even got to hold him, to hear his first cry. She would then be forced to bear litter after litter for Ibutho and its ever-growing need for more breeding stock and more soldiers. Her only escape was throwing herself off a cliff into the river's rapids below. And she did just that, never knowing of the son she bore the only man she ever loved.

Maneko, however, was out hunting when the raid happened. When he returned home, his wife was gone and the stench of Ibutho lions was everywhere. He searched day and night for his wife and the child she carried within her. For years he searched until ill health claimed him. He never found his beloved Asali.

Ngwa
He was born in servitude, but the boy showed promise. He was deceptive, charismatic, and stealthy. Ideal for a certain line of work. Ngwa was brought into the fold of the Frumentarii, Ibutho's extensive spy system. He rose through the ranks quickly and was then permitted to father children of his own. He chose a lioness from the slave den, Andin. Andin would bare a single cub for Ngwa, a daughter. He would never know of her existence, nor would she know of her father, for she was also doomed to the life of a slave. This would be Ngwa's only regret in his life. Ngwa was good, perhaps too good, at his job. On one such job, he stumbled across another cheetah. She became his informant, then his friend, and finally his lover. He confessed everything to her, and abandoned Ibutho for her. She didn't care. She believed you shouldn't judge people for their past. And very soon they were on the run, evading being captured, before finally settling in lands East of Mlima. The pair started a family.

Unfortunatly for Ngwa and Iyara, they would be murdered to death by a very upset old lion.

Mwepesi & Kutania
Kutania was already married when Mwepesi showed up. Their affair was brief but passionate. So brief in fact that he was gone the following morning. Wham, bam, and thank you ma'am! Kutania learned she was pregnant a few weeks later. Only one problem. Her husband was, eh, unable to perform. So how would she explain it? Simple. A miracle. Her husband didn't believe her, so he sent her packing. Kutania gave birth to two cubs; twin girls. But one did not survive. As for the other? She lived, but just about. Kutania named the child Iyara, and did the bare minimum to care for her. Once the girl was of age, she abandoned her.

Kutania did find a happily ever after though, with a lioness. Perhaps that's where her grandson gets it from.

As for Mwepesi, got himself killed after he slept with someone's wife which resulted in the death of his own daughter whom he never knew existed. Funny that.

Iyara
Kutania's little girl, and her biggest regret. Her mother abandons her after she's grown just enough to be able to survive on her own. She did just fine. Then she met him. She loved Ngwa more than anything, despite his past. He saw the cheetah he truly was. And that was enough. Such a shame she and her mate died a death because some old fart was salty that his young wife was getting it elsewhere. Why? She looked too much like the cheetah the lion's wife was having a roll in the hay with.

He was not an unwanted cub like he believed, like his master had told him. His master is the reason his parents are dead. Poor guy. A shame he will never learn of this.
