Description Now, you might be thinking that this is a sign that I am returning to posting on DeviantArt. I'm not. I'm just spreading this awareness to the 1.6k watchers that are still watching me (and apparently still growing after I stopped posting and moved all my art to "Scraps") that I am not in support of AI generated art in the way it is being used. I'm not against AI art in general, but the way that people used this system to basically create art as their own while bypassing copyright laws is basically a whole new level of art theft. If DeviantArt wanted to experiment with AI art, they should have done it a different way. Basically having everyone's art that's posted here to be potentially used to train the AI system by default instead of opting-out by default is a violation of trust between artists and the DA team, especially those who don't want their art to be used for such activities for any reason they might have. This is worse considering those who are either not using the website or deceased. Seeing that they still have AI art present in their website, I am inclined to believe that DeviantArt is not a trustworthy site to post your art or even my art. It makes me feel that I should completely delete my gallery if I speculate that my art has been used for training the AI even though I mark all my art and my profile as not authorized for inclusion. After all, they are not technically bound to follow through their promise from their statement about the opting out option ("Please note that DeviantArt cannot guarantee that it will not appear in any third party datasets."). That could be interpreted as cracks through the systems but we don't really know for sure in relation to DeviantArt's actions.

Now, given my announcement of leaving, I suspect that this message will go unheard despite the number of watchers on my DA page. I could be talking to a brick wall for all I know. But, if anything resonates with you, I highly encourage you spread this awareness to the site. Maybe they will listen and make appropriate changes that will not harm artists. Maybe not. All I know is that since it's owned/acquired by Wix.com Ltd., a publicly-traded company with stock in the market, they might only care about how much revenue they will milk out. So, that's all that I have to say on this matter.
