Description:
This cunning, elusive young male has only been provably sighted a handful of times. However, his depredations are the stuff of myth and legend already, at least along that small stretch of Ciriofalan coastal forest that he has claimed for his territory. His sleek body cuts easily through the water when he swims, though he isn't quite as fast or agile as a true waterbar (he doesn't seem to have webbed toes), and many locals claim to have seen him stealing fish from nets, shore-set lines, and the fish traps that some people place in river mouths and other convenient spots. Some claim he destroys these objects - either out of anger when he finds them empty, or perhaps out of sheer spite. He's also supposedly an accomplished poultry-house raider and livestock thief. A few people even blame him for the disappearance of certain valuable female barlaks from their outdoor pens.
While the PFA does not believe that most of the deeds ascribed to WM004 were actually committed by him (or that many of them even happened in the first place), they have dubbed him "Blackbeard" as much for this outsided reputation as for the physical feature. The seal male has a grease spot right on his chin, giving him a literal black beard, which serves to reinforce the nickname. From a distance, his Dalmatian-modified grease spots appear to be greyed out, but the most recent photo of him - captured on a PFA-set motion sensitive camera - revealed that the grease spots are, in fact, roaned over. He seems better at hunting than fishing, overall, but the truth is that he appears to cheerfully avail himself of whatever food is available. Though some of his thefts are likely motivated by some degree of laziness - it's easier to steal from a fish trap than catch your own fish, after all - others require great skill and daring, leading the PFA agents assigned to his case to suspect that he may be a Thrill Seeker. With his retractile claws, Blackbeard is well equipped to take fish, fowl, or game as it suits him.
Blackbeard is about average size, but well muscled and powerful. Although many of the stories about this feral male are untrue, the PFA has ascertained that he has indeed lured off at least one fertile female and the two are likely planning to start their own pack in Blackbeard's territory. As such, the PFA has been trying to capture him and his mate, but with no luck so far. Therefore, a capture license has been issued for this animal.
