During the war for Cybertron, Decepticon scientists developed a method for creating sparks. Unfortunately, theses synthetic sparks or Syn-Sparks proved to be inferior to those produced by the All-Spark and the Matrix of Leadership. The only practical use for them was as an enhancement for the Decepticon drones. A mass produced army of automatons that made for exultant cannon fodder.

Among the billions of Syn-Sparks that were produced for the war effort, a singular aberration came to be. Similar to the point-one-percenter sparks that formed the greatest of Cybertron's warriors. This aberration proved to be a far stronger and smarter then any other drone. Quickly realizing this fact, the drone did everything he could to hide his unique qualities from the Decepticons. Wanting more out of life then that of a cheap, disposable tool. The drone, stole technology and resources from his masters to upgrade himself into a warrior capable of going toe-to-toe with the likes of Optimus Prime and Megatron.

Valuing his freedom and independence, the newly christened "Imperious Magnum", became a wild card throughout the war. Often aiding the Autobots in exchange for resources and favors, but he occasionally did the same for the Decepticons when he became desperate enough. Despite everything that makes Imperious Magnum different from all the other drones, there is one thing that is the same. The lifespan of Syn-Sparks are not as long as those of true sparks. That could, seemingly, go on forever. No matter what Imperious Magnum, dose or achieves. His spark will eventually burn itself out.
