I've always had an appreciation for Ashfoot during the runtime of Crowfeather's Trial and always headcannoned that they had a close bond while Crowfeather grew up. With Deadfoot dead pretty early on (I'm guessing before Crowfeather was made into an apprentice) he'd be much closer to his mother. So when she starts to see how her son looks at Squirrelpaw of ThunderClan...she steps in and gently warns her son.
