ALIGNMENT: CHAOTIC NEUTRAL

"I'm afraid you don't get possess the training or means young Apprentice" Springpaw teased, poking his niece's cheek, before rising up playfully onto his hind legs for a moment and backing away, only feign a move forwards again, getting rather excited with the moment.
It had been quite a while since he'd had a good playfight, Lostwish wasn't really into them, Berrykit was too young, and previously Vixenpaw had been too small for him to attempt it, but provided he was gentle he was sure they'd be fine.

"That doesn't matter! It's what's in the heart that counts!" Vixenpaw mewed in a staged voice, pawing still at Springpaw's face as he play fought with her. She hooked a paw around one of his legs, trying to throw the larger apprentice off balance.

Stumbling over as Vixenpaw caught him off balance, Springpaw laughed, "Okay, okay, Springpaw down, Springpaw down," he held his paws out in surrender, a wide grin on his face, he knew if he used all his strength that he could probably overpower her, but that wasn't the point of the game.
"So tell me then" he rolled back over, giving her a playful bump on the shoulder with his paw, "Making friends in the Apprentice Den?"

Vixenpaw flopped over her uncle, still in a playful mood. "A few," she mumbled, pawing at his ear distractedly. "I'm friends with Ringpaw, and um...you." she laughed. "I have made a few more friends with the Warriors than the apprentices. I....am kind of scared to talk to our denmates, is all."

"Doesn't matter," Springpaw turned his head around to lick her cheek, "I'm glad you've made some friends, I suppose some young she-cats are just too mature for those of their own age," it was half jokingly when he said this, but he didn't have a problem with it, you should be friends with those you connected to, "Being friends with other just because you think it's something you should do is never right, best to just have weird and different friends that you actually like."

Vixenpaw was purring so loudly as Springpaw complimented her on her maturity level. Morningpaw had been complaining lately that Vixenpaw was 'too serious', but hearing Springpaw say it wasn't a problem was like a weight lifting from her shoulders. "Thank you for saying so," she smiled, pawing at his ear some more.

Feeling the conversation was taking a turn for the far too serious, he straightened himself up with Vixenpaw still sprawled across his back. She was a little heavy but he managed to stand up straight, proceeding to trot in a rather showy way around the portion of the Camp they were in.
"You know I think you are the biggest squirrel I've ever managed to catch, perhaps I should show you off to all my Clanmates" he teased.

"If I'm a squirrel, I'm the prettiest you've ever captured, for sure, and you should set me free." Vixenpaw giggled as she bounced on Springpaw's back, carried around like she'd just been hunted. "StarClan won't be happy with you if you kill and eat the LeaderSquirrel."

"Pretty little LeaderSquirrel should have run a little faster" Springpaw laughed, increasing his pace a little, before slowing down again, his muscles giving up as he drew to a halt, "LeaderSquirrel could also do with one or two less nuts for dinner."
He turned his head towards her, grinning so she knew he was kidding, she was just growing up and it was a little hard for him to get his head around.

"But nuts are so goooooood," Vixenpaw could tell she was a bit too heavy for her uncle, so with the emphasis of her drawn out "goooood", she slid off of his back and lay on the ground, paws up in the air, imitating a dead squirrel. Her face contorted as she tried to hold in her laughter.

Bursting out laughing when he saw her imitation of the dead squirrel, Springpaw rolled backwards, all four paws curled against his belly as he tried to control it.
Managing to recover enough, he poked Vixenpaw in the belly, knowing she was very close to full blown laughter as well.

The paw that lightly nudged her belly may as well been the hand that pressed the button for a nuclear war, because Vixenpaw exploded with laughter, rolling about next to her uncle. "Springpawwwwwwwwwww," she laughed, "You can't do that!"

"Yes I can" he smirked, "Because I'm older than you and therefore I can get away with more," he flicked his tail, "One of these days you will understand exactly what I'm talking about."

Vixenpaw was excited for her first day of real-life training. Silversoul had promised her a (legitimate) tour of the territory today, and the sable-furred apprentice was pacing eagerly around the Warrior's Den, waiting for Silversoul to wake up.
Her mentor had been out on the moon high patrol and was sleeping late, much to Vixenpaw's dismay. The young she-cat was too polite to wake her, and too impatient to wait. She needed a distraction!
As if by StarClan's guiding light, her uncle Russetmoon exited the Warrior's Den, obviously just woken up. Vixenpaw hadn't had much contact with her father's side of the family other than Deathsong, and she nodded her head courteously to the older tom. She muttered a quick "Good Morning," looking at her paws.

Russetmoon was quite drowsy, but nonetheless exited his cozy nest and headed for the exit of the den. He noticed the other cats on the moon high patrol were deeply asleep, and he stepped carefully around each cat, not wanting to disturb their resting. Now outside, the red warrior stretched his muscles in the daylight.
"Good Morning," The quiet greeting was almost missed by the sleepy tom, but he turned in the direction of the welcome and smiled. Vixenpaw looked fully awake, and why wouldn't she be? Her first day of training was bound to start soon. His niece had grown in the six moons since he remembered her tiny form snuggled against her twin's. Russetmoon never visited long, only stopping in the check on all the queens and kits, but he made sure to check up on his brother's kits as often as he could.
"Good morning, Vixenpaw! Ready for your first day of training?" he purred, taking a few steps closer. Vixenpaw really did resemble his father, and himself if you counted his likeness in color. Though her tabby markings made it clear she was directly related to his brother, Fallenstar. He must be so proud of them, Russetmoon thought. and so happy to be more involved.

"I would be, if Silversoul was awake!" Vixenkit fluffed out her fur threateningly, as if she was ready to start fighting right then and there. "Silversoul promised she'd take me on a tour of the territory, but she's sleeping too long. I can't wait this long!"
Huffing, the rolled onto her side dramatically, and played dead.

"Now, now, little one. Patience is one of the qualities valued in each warrior! If you were hungry, would you pounce early and take the chance of losing the prey?" Russetmoon couldn't help but smile. "Silversould will take you out, she should wake up very soon. I'm sure she'd be upset if you went out with a different warrior, wouldn't she?"
He approached her small form and gently poked her stomach with his nose, chuckling at her performance.

Vixenkit giggled, curling her limbs and tail around her stomach defensively, laughing because it tickled. "You're right, probably, maybe," she giggled further, batting at his nose gently. "So...a good warrior needs patience, huh," she mumbled mostly to herself, sitting up again, and straightening her posture.

Regaining his composure after laughing along with the new apprentice, Russetmoon sat back and looked proudly down at Vixenpaw. She had really grown, and not just in size. She was developing the proper traits to become a great warrior.
"Yes, of course. We always kneed to wait for the right time to strike an enemy, or we could risk losing balance, or losing balance. Maybe Silversould is teaching you, even as she sleeps!"

Vixenpaw's mouth hung open as she realized that what Russetmoon was talking about must be true. "You're right!" She looked up at her uncle, he had blue eyes like she did. "Are you patient, Russetmoon?"

Russetmoon chuckled. "I like to think I am. I never really had a problem waiting, I suppose. It takes time for things to get done." he was hoping he was doing this right. Was he supposed to be teaching her these things before her mentor? Eh, who cares. Vixenpaw is his niece, he could probably get away with teaching her a few things.

"But waiting is soooo boooooring," Vixenpaw huffed, pawing at Russetmoon's paws. If she was to become a good warrior, would she have to learn to embrace the waiting like Russetmoon did? Or would she ever be able to accomplish such a feat if she was born with such impatience?
She sighed. "I know you're right, though. I'll try to be patient, too. Like you."

Russetmoon smiled, amused and proud of his niece. He lifted up his big front paws, big at least compared to Vixenpaw's, and scooped up the apprentice, bringing her closer. "Very good. See, even though your mentor couldn't take you out, you still learned a valuable lesson. Some days, especially as Leaf bare approaches, it will get harder to do physical training, and sometimes the mental lessons are just as important!"
Though his training with Sootpaw wouldn't end for a little while, he would miss getting to help a young cat grow. Having kits of his own would be far off, but his nieces and nephews did help ill the love for kits he had.

Vixenpaw squirmed under Russetmoon's hug, laughing all the while. Her paws pressed up on his chest as she wiggled, "Mental lessons! I can't catch prey with my mind!" she giggled.
Despite her protesting of his affection, she did rather enjoy Russetmoon and his company. She mentally noted that he was now her favorite uncle other than Springpaw, who kind of didn't even count as an uncle because he is also still an apprentice.

Russetmoon laughed and licked the apprentice's cheek affectionately. He released Vixenpaw from his grasp and settles himself beside her again. "Of course not! Mental lessons are good for battle tactics and if you're ever deputy, little one, you'll have to be very organized to create patrols and hunting parties." Her laughter made Russetmoon smile without him knowing it. She was just too cute! He hoped Fallenstar was taking advantage of his own time to spend a while with his family; if he wasn't, he was missing out.
"Now, how about I go check on Silversoul, and see if she's awake enough to take you out?"

Vixenpaw gasped, Deputy! Would she perhaps one day actually be Deputy? Maybe even leader after that, like Fallenstar was? She wondered if Russetmoon was right, if the Deputy really did all that work. She hadn't really kept an eye on Spiceshadow; in fact, she'd avoided him almost as much as her father. This was the first time the red she-cat really noticed this about herself.
"Y-yeah, sure! I'd almost forgotten I was waiting for her!" she twitched her whiskers, grinning sheepishly.

Russetmoon's whiskers twitched with amusement. "I'll go fetch her now." He turned away from the young apprentice and disappeared back into the warrior's den. After a few moments of silent chatter, the russet warrior emerged with a silver she-cat drowsily following behind.
Silversoul stopped outside the den and began to groom her pelt, while Russetmoon continued towards Vixenpaw once more. "She'll be ready in a few." he purred, though he didn't want to leave the she-cat, he too had to train. Sootpaw was antsy to learn new moves.

"Okay," Vixenpaw smiled at her uncle, ears drooping only slightly as she realized that their time together would be cut short, and now it was time to be serious. "Thanks uncle Russetmoon! You're the best!"

Russetmoon bent his head down and licked his niece over Vixenpaw's head. "I'll see you later kid. Be sure to save me a spot in your first hunt!" the warrior trotted away, leaving Vixenpaw with Silversoul. He loved hanging around younger cats, it made him feel pretty young himself. Ah well, back to the grind...

"I will!" Vixenpaw promised as she and Silversoul padded towards the camp entrance to go train. She waved her tail towards him as she left.
