March had been an eventful month for everyone, especially after hearing about the big banquet happening that year, so now there’s many things starting back up again…but this isn’t focusing on lots of things at the same time. This is just on one part that has NOTHING to do with everything else. It’s with 404.

404, for at least the past few weeks, has been waking up in the middle of the night because his charger kept getting pulled out by Mushka the cat, Madrigal the Tattletale, Musika the Jigglypuff, Snake Girl the hognose snake, someone who had been sleepwalking and pulled it out thinking it was something else, or his own movements on sheer accident. This had caused him to ask Kyra Jones and Ellie Ann (They both kept their own last names in the marriage) about getting a special chip installed that would allow him to not need a charger. The two had to do a bit of research on how to exactly get the chip installed, but after some time, they agreed to do it.

The day was scheduled and 404 wouldn’t have to deal with a charger anymore, because he was getting a sleep chip. If you don’t know what it does, it allows a robot’s internal battery to be charged up in a similar way that humans and animals gain energy for the next day. Though, what nobody knew at the time was that on April 1st, if a sleep chip was installed into someone on that day, that robot would have to wait until that day is over to experience the effects. Because April 1st is…

APRIL FOOLS DAY!

But to sum up how that particular day went, it was…surprisingly calm. Yeah, quite a few people were missing for a part of the day (because of anniversaries and a birthday that just so happen to be on that day) and pranks were being set up all around the building, but for 404, he was able to get the chip installed without any major issues. Plus, he was always interested about real things happening on April 1st, so this was allowing him to live out what it’s like for some people.

…but then the night came. All was normal at first, albeit some people were experiencing some late night pranks, and when 404 would finally experience what all of the other robots experienced each and every night (at least for him), nothing happened. He tried multiple positions, multiple techniques, and even a few unusual things (and accidentally getting pranked by Melomber via a rickroll), but nothing would work. It even got to the point where he groaned in slight irritation; clearly because he thought that the chip was not working.

Not too long after, Beep-0, Business Bot, FrogBot, and Treble came right into the room. They asked 404 what was happening and 404 explained the situation, even going as far as to show proof of the chip and saying that he’s not joking about his struggles. When the four found out about 404’s situation and knew that it was true, they also decided to help him out, even going so far as to staying by 404’s side the whole night. And that’s where more techniques came into play.

The group of four spent the next few hours trying to help 404; from simple techniques, to some techniques that they learned about, to quite a few ridiculous ones, and even bringing up some very specific techniques that the group used on more than one occasion. Each and every time they tried a technique…it failed, but they all enjoyed the company that they had with the failed attempts. By the time that it was almost midnight, everyone in the room had so many funny moments from that night and so many failed attempts, but for them, it didn’t matter that the attempts failed; all that did matter was that they tried.

Eventually, while the group of five were lying down on the bed, they started to bring up a story about the past few months. The particular story being about how the whole building was going through a wild snake chase in the building because Snake Girl accidentally escaped her cage. It was funny, to say the least, though the ending was never brought up, not because of what the ending was or that someone didn’t fully remember how it went, but because of a surprise hug that Beep-0 and Business Bot experienced at the same time.

At first, they both were surprised by the hug, since they didn’t expect it. A few seconds later, FrogBot had started to hear a light rumbling noise that sounded really close to everyone. That genuinely got the group feeling a bit nervous. After that, and a bit of wondering, Treble just had to ask 404 about everything.

“404, where’s that rumbling noise coming from? And why are you hugging Beep-0 and Business Bot? I’m not jealous about the attention, I’m just curious and a bit nervous about what is going on.”

There was nothing except for that rumbling noise, which confused Treble. Why wouldn’t 404 answer the questions? She took a quick glance at the clock on the wall; 12:05 am, it said, followed by 00:05 underneath it, and then she glanced towards 404 and what she saw actually answered all of the questions without even saying a single word.

What was with the sudden hug? It was a way to comfort Beep-0 and Business Bot. That rumbling noise? It was 404’s system making it. And why wasn’t 404 answering Treble’s questions? It was no longer April Fools Day, so the holiday effect on the sleep chip finally deactivated, which allowed 404 to sleep. This also answered the big question of why 404 was having trouble in the first place; no one knew until that moment that when certain holidays come, certain chips can choose to not cooperate until that day is over! It was from a lack of knowledge on the chip and what holidays affect certain chips that started it up.

Finding that out, Treble told the others about everything, which finally got the three robots to calm down. Soon enough, the four robots would drift off into sleep, though they all made a promise to be there for 404 in difficult situations and that they would accept that 404 loves them all equally before doing so.

…12:30 am…

Fandroid was walking through the hallway, carrying Snake Girl back to Fandrew’s room after she had escaped her cage, slithered to Fandroid’s room, and mistook them for Fandrew.

“You’re getting big for a hognose, Snake Girl. My cousin and Dia are really taking good care of you.” Fandroid said to the snake as they carefully entered Fandrew’s room to place her back into the cage before heading back to their own room. On the way back, they took notice of the door to 404’s room being slightly open. Curiosity got the best of them as they took a peek inside, discovering the sight of three of his cousins and one of Melody’s sisters all cuddled up to 404 (which is seen in the picture).

Fandroid couldn’t help but softly smile at the sight before fully closing the door and heading back to their room. As they were walking back, they were thinking about how peaceful everything looked in there…and how happy 404 feels to have four true loves who all care about him so much.

The first night with any big change can be difficult, but as long as you’ve got trusted friends and family to help you through, anything can go right.
