Description
???: Fandom City! Where many things are happening, from invitations to celebrations, this city has seen…pretty much almost anything that you might know about! MerMay just so happens to be one of the most common things to happen in the city.{Cut to Fandom Park, where Tori and Ben are in the lake…in their regular clothes?}
Tori: But I bet no one would ever suspect that MerMay would be happening in Fandom Park this year, right Ben?
Ben Plotz: Right, Tori. Since there’s a very important tree growing in Fairytale Land, no one wanted to accidentally cause it to grow in a weird way because of MerMay, so this year, instead of it being in Fairytale Land, it’s happening at Fandom Park.
Tori: And don’t worry; Mayor Esu allowed us to use the park for this year’s MerMay in advance.
Ben Plotz: You know it! Though, ever since Vernor went through that particular spell last October, the city has been very adamant when it comes to spells that affect the physical body.
Tori: That’s why we are the first ones to participate.
{Pan into a look where the water seems to disappear, showing that Tori and Ben are both under the mermaid spell}
Tori: It will show the city that there’s nothing to fear about the spell. Plus, if the city sees that we’re okay by the end of the day, they’ll feel more comfortable about spells in general. I know for a fact that the city has been nervous post-Sleeping Vernor.
Ben Plotz: And you were there to hear Vernor’s tale when they returned.
Tori: Exactly. Lots of people also heard the news after the first few days of her return, which brought the city into a bit of a “lack of magic” mindset. Thankfully, it’s starting to let up a bit.
Ben Plotz: But for them to understand that not all spells are like that particular spell, having two people going through the mermaid spell will bring them to realize that magic can be good?
Tori: Yep. And who better else to show that off than us? A narrator and a Mewni witch; showing the city that they don’t have to be scared of magic that affects the body.
Ben Plotz: I get it now, but will this spell last forever?
Tori: Only if the participants of a specific day want it to last forever. Otherwise, I’ll send out a reverse spell, only if the participant wasn’t already a merperson beforehand or if the participant themself didn’t cast it on themself, which will bring them back to normal. So for us, since we both know that we don’t want to be merfolk forever, after sunset, I’ll send out a reversal spell that will turn us back to normal.
Ben Plotz: Ahh, okay. I understand that now.
Tori: *smiling* I knew that people were bound to ask questions like that this year, especially those who are new to MerMay, so I prepared questions for almost every occasion. The only one that I’m struggling to answer is if someone tries to call it off prematurely.
Ben Plotz: Well, if that one tries to occur, I’ll be right by your side to help you through it. Plus, as a narrator, I can get a heads up on what’s bound to happen with certain people.
Tori: Thanks. *to herself* I knew that bringing a narrator along for the hosting journey this year would be a great idea. This time, I don’t have to stress about everything happening while MerMay’s going on, unlike what happened last year with the countdown Sidetable had.
And so, MerMay starts off on a good note. Tori Butterfly and Ben Plotz are the hosts, there’s no countdown that is happening at the same time, and if anything pops up within the city, Ben can alert Tori to what’s happening! It’s a win-win for everyone!
