Description
In New Tristram, Fall has just begun to set in and the citizens are out gathering for winter. The local tavern is bustling with joy and laughter but it turns to almost pure silence as Xena, the traveling barbarian mercenary, enters. Eyes watch, whispers begin as she approaches the tavern owner and bartender. “A mug of ale,” she says firmly, dropping her pouch of gold onto the counter. With a single glare, she silences all the murmuring. She grabs her ale and chugs it down. The sound of joy and happiness returns while Xena relaxes with another mug. She notices a small, somewhat scrawny witch sitting next to her at the bar. “They stare at you because no one's seen a barbarian before,” the witch says shyly. Xena stays quiet while the witch fidgets. “My name is Daisy.” Xena looks down at the witch. “Fits a small child like you.” Daisy pouts, “I’m not a child! I’ll have you know that I am 24 years old and have spent most of my life studying magic and mastering my powers.” Xena gets up and begins to walk out of the bar but Daisy runs over to her. “Wait!” “What do you want?” “Where you headed?” “Away from you.” Xena continues to walk out the bar with the witch following behind her. Xena stops in her tracks causing Daisy to run into her back. “Why do you insist on following me?” “I-I’m not! Caldeum is headed in that direction.” Xena shakes her head then continues walking, ignoring the witch completely as she continues with her own personal travel. Daisy sadly realizes that she is going in the same direction as the barbarian. She maintains a large amount of distance as she walks behind Xena. Daisy takes out her book and begins to read as she walks. Xena does glance back briefly to see if the witch was following her. Eventually Daisy gets caught up in her reading and sits under a tree while Xena moves forward on her path.
