Description
Given this image by Diego Rivera and the first line I was challenged to write a poem. Witness the horrifying result.Balding baby Jesus had a rough night at the toga party
He said,
“this is what happens to you when you’re doomed to question authority”
So they shot him up with Thorazine and clonal antibodies
Took him to the manger and buried him in warm bodies
Baby Jesus set his chin and said “this is just fine
It’s too bad that I’m still too young to turn stuff into wine
But I’ve got the kind of skill that comes in handy in a manger
Cause God only knows that I’ll be living a life of danger”
“I’m the one who’ll ‘ply the loaves and give the Pope his nose
But it’s hard to do those things when you’re still wrapped in swaddling clothes
These days it’s all I can to stand on my own two feet
But give me money lenders and I’ll route them all toot sweet”
He yanked upon his diaper, stood there looking tough
Said,
“you’ll not get nowhere in this world, sitting on your duff”
So they took him at his word and did parketh him on an ass
Released it in a paddock to feed upon the grass
Though it t’was then the winter and they were all sore afraid
Of insufficient forage, livestock might not make the grade
Baby Jesus waved his hand and lo! The ground did glow
Producing whey and manna in abundance on the snow
He said, “No need for thanks, from you or you or you
For Jesus this is easy -- this is what I do.”
