The term ARGUS probes covers two different sized probe carrier types from Whistler, which work individually or in combination:

The TARA-S7 ARGUS is a 40 centimeter diameter probe. The suffix »S« stands for »Surveillance«. This probe carrier was already developed in the 16th century NGZ and used by the TLD, among others. It was later expanded to work with the ARGUS-R7. Surrounding the spherical body is a ten-centimetre-wide silvery band containing Terran-Siganese-Swoon-made microprojectors belonging to the systems within. In addition, there are holo and acoustic field projectors, which, among other things, serve to simplify communication with agents by means of a projected face. Inside there are energy systems for autonomous use lasting up to several days. 1000 disc-shaped mini-drones with diameters between nine centimeters and a tenth of a millimeter sit on the surface of the sphere and can swarm out for observation and exploration purposes. In the drawing, the S7 probe is currently being serviced and equipped with drones by a team of Swoon, Terrans and Siganese.

The ARGUS-R7 is an additional development from the 20th century NGZ. The "R" in the name stands for "Reconnaissance". On the drawing, the R7 probe carrier is inactive in a carrier case with other drones and tools. It is a spherical carrier with a diameter of 10 centimeters, in which rod-shaped probes from several centimeters down to tenths of a millimeter in length are inserted. Depending on their size and equipment, they act autonomously or remotely, send data directly or can preprocess it and react to it, are equipped with more or less complex localization and recording options or even with interaction options. In addition to the antigrav, the microfusion reactor, the control positronics for all drones and their charging connections, the central support element also contains holoprojectors, a deflector and a deflector screen as well as a simple handgun caliber thermalbeam.
