Description The quickest drawing I think I have ever done, just to keep the whole water genre going I thought I would draw a rose made of water.
Bristol Board Smooth A3, Mechanical 4B Pencil, traditional HB and 8B pencils - blending stumb for shading and fading Β By the way the shadows in the corner are not some fancy pencil or software trick - just took the photo in poor light which caused shadows acoss the picture - I have left them on their becuase I quite like them

water is soooooooooooooo hard to draw even harder to color do u have any tips?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Paul-Shanghai In reply to theheek [2013-09-18 02:17:20 +0000 UTC]

hmmm big question and only a small space to write an answer! Β I guess the only couple of things I remember when drawing water is that a) it has hard crisp edges, contrary to what most people think, if you look closely at a bubble or stream of water you can see almost sharp lines - so a fine pencil/pen to draw the lines is important. Β b) I always use my blending stump (When its dirty with graphite) to blend inside the bubble/stream of water, pressure allows me to get different shades and the softness is what i think makes it look more realistic. c) Contrast is key, try to keep the darks very dark, and the whites really white, these give the impression of shadow and form. Β Other than that I am not sure.....oh yes, just keep practising, that is what I am doing Β

Hi! I wanted to ask you if I can copy some of your draws with water, in order to practise..
They are so perfect, and the best I've found until today.. Please, let me practise.. You also decide if I can eventually share my draws (and if I will, of course I will tell that I copied from you). Please reply ^^

Ahh, how can you draw something so cool so quickly? D:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Paul-Shanghai In reply to Thefriendlywolf [2013-06-12 14:40:01 +0000 UTC]

well there is not so much detail - portraits have a lot more detail, that may not be visible, but make the whole drawing process take much longer (for me ). Also they tend to require the whole page to be filled in one way or another - whereas these drawings have a lot of untouched paper
