Holy hell, I can't believe I finished this drawing after such a long time. But at least I finished it in time for the anniversary of the My Hero Academia manga, which started 7 years ago. ̶ ̶(̶I̶ ̶k̶n̶o̶w̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶n̶i̶v̶e̶r̶s̶a̶r̶y̶ ̶w̶a̶s̶ ̶t̶w̶o̶ ̶d̶a̶y̶s̶ ̶a̶g̶o̶,̶p̶r̶o̶b̶l̶e̶m̶s̶ ̶p̶r̶e̶v̶e̶n̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶m̶e̶ ̶f̶r̶o̶m̶ ̶p̶o̶s̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶7̶t̶h̶,̶b̶e̶ ̶q̶u̶i̶e̶t̶)̶ ̶ Can you believe it? 7 years since the beginning of this whole story. Of course I've only been following the adventure for almost 2 years, but seeing this franchise come this far is pretty cool.

Here's the thing: This drawing up there? This redraw? It wasn't even supposed to be something related to the manga's birthday. In fact, this fanart was supposed to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the anime, and it was theoretically supposed to be posted in early April. I started drawing in the second half of March.

As I couldn't finish on time, progress kind of slowed down as I didn't have any kind of "commitment" (if that makes sense).

Finishing this redraw took a while for a couple of reasons. First, as I continued the progress of this drawing, I was making progress on other drawings I was making/that I had started over time. Second, some personal things had to be sorted out, which made the progress of this redraw stop for a while. Third is that there were moments when I just didn't have the motivation to continue this specific drawing, you know.
This drawing was kind of abandoned for a while, until a while ago, when I realized that the manga's anniversary was approaching, I decided to join forces to finally complete the drawing.

As you obviously noticed, this is a redraw (duh) of one of the promotional arts released for Season 5 of the anime . Why of all the images or scenes that I could redraw did I choose just this one? It's because I like this promo and because I didn't have any other good ideas in mind when I started this drawing.
It's not the best thing I could offer for this special occasion, and honestly I could have come up with something different, but I don't think the ideas I had in mind for the manga's birthday would be finished in time.
Besides,it was time to finally complete this damn drawing.

Recreating Deku's pose was tricky, but hey! The end result looks cool! I had never done (or "recreated") a pose like this before. The hand was something interesting to redraw too.

At the end of the day, it's nice to see this drawing completely finished. It's not perfect, and it's not 100% accurate to the original image but still,I'm of proud of this.
I hope to eventually draw more stuff related to MHA. I don't know when it's going to happen, but I know it's going to happen someday.
Or maybe not. I don't know. I have to stop saying that I'm going to do certain things that I'll never end up doing in the end.

Oh yeah,7 years of MHA. It's still interesting to see how far this work has come. I don't really have much to say other than thanking series creator Kohei Horikoshi for creating this piece. I haven't read the manga yet, and maybe when I finally finish season 5 I'll check it out, but I'm glad I found out about this series back in late 2019. It's been a pretty cool adventure to follow the story that is being told at the moment (in the anime, in this case).
