I love the dichotomy of the unholy and holy in fantasy. Merging the two have always been an effort I've pushed in my writing and art. Adding an undead aspect to this character seems to be the link. Perhaps in his life, he was a holy warrior, and in death, he's called forth out of desperation of his goddess to server her in the mortal realm. So we have an undead paladin who's motives are good, but who's inner and nature and outer looks are constantly at conflict with his identity.
