Description This is a gift for my good friend . I'm proud to say that while it has its mistakes (like the way the neck connects to the head), it's my best piece to date. I hope you like it, Robert! Here's your Geoffroy's Cat girl.

I think my scanner knew that this piece was special to me. For once, this is darned near true to the original. I'd say, the only real differences are that the shading of the moss she's sitting on and the farthest trees is less smooth. The scanner didn't like the Warm Grey 90%, I take it. Some of the other shading isn't quite as smooth as it is in person but still looks alright.

I'm not really sure what else to say, other than that I learned some new tricks, and I'm really pleased with the result. One of the tricks I learned is kind of a "color floating" thing, where I can tweak values to be lighter (rather than just blending things from the next lightest color) and also fill in for dying markers without altering the color. I can use a healthy marker in place of a half-dead one yet still get the dying one's color at full saturation. It's really hard to explain but trust me, it works. The scanner saw through my trick on some of the greens, though, so the substitute color shows in some places. Just means some transitions are a bit less subtle as you guys see this.

Hahaha, thanks. I wasn't sure how to portray the type of bark I wanted so my trees came out looking a little funky.

Wow, I'm quite impressed. The coloring looks pretty even throughout (I envy you), and all the shading's correct. What I really like, though, are the textures.

Woah, thanks a ton for the comment and fav. I really soak the paper with ink to get it all even like that. Normally people say my stuff looks unnaturally smooth so I'm glad you like the textures!

Wow, now this one is really incredible. Wonderful work, I love the colors, really has a warm feeling and I don't think I've seen a gold tone like that before. Greta posing and excellent work with the details.

Thanks so much, Baha. I used warm strong yellows and warm grays to make her fur that tone, and the greens really seemed to complement it.

Thanks. I wanted the green beads to be shiny so they'd be distinct from all of the other green things in the piece.

Wow! This is absolutly beautiful! i just don#t know, what to tell you... I wish i could imagine, what you are doing with your markers, so that I could try it out on my works as well.. +laughs* But concerning the picture: it is just absolutly great! I love the colours, the spots on her fur, and especially the way you shaded the leaves! Great work! i have to :fav+: it!

Wow, thanks Tabby. I use wet-into-wet techniques for pretty much everything, with lots of layers of color. It's kind of like painting.

Wow. This came out so great! I love it. She's beautiful, and she is so recognizably a Geoffroy's Cat. Wonderful!

You introduced me to these adorably wild little Geoffroy's Cats, so thank you! The information I found said that they're yellow toward the north and gray toward the southern part of their range, so I did a kind of mix. And I did end up leaving her tail really long since I liked how it looked and how it balanced her pose.

robertsloan2 In reply to Peachfuzz [2007-08-21 04:18:41 +0000 UTC]

Extra long tails are a part of your style, a delightful one. It fits. You got a good balance between the two colorations. She's wonderful! And you got her huge eyes right, even with that style her eyes are noticeably larger than the others. She has that compact little wildcat build too, petite and muscular at the same time. Beautiful!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Peachfuzz In reply to robertsloan2 [2007-08-21 04:26:53 +0000 UTC]

Her pose and expressions were inspired by how cats will roll on their backs and give you that look: "Please stick your hand down to pet my adorable belly, I feel like clawing something!" You know you're going to end up bleeding but the urge to do it anyway is so strong...

I did tweak the anatomy too, since I've been working really hard not to have every character be a stamp-out copy of all the others body-wise. I'm glad you picked up on that. I wanted her to appear kind of little even though there really isn't anything around to compare to.

robertsloan2 In reply to Peachfuzz [2007-08-21 05:00:49 +0000 UTC]

ROFL! Yes! Ari did that to *ziza-66044 today. He has an irresistible fuzzy tummy.

Yes. Even without any other characters for contrast, she's very obviously small and she has interesting large feet -- which they do, of course. Her proportions are beautiful. I'd love to see her with some of your taller characters too, and like your anthro world!

Peachfuzz In reply to robertsloan2 [2007-08-21 05:17:19 +0000 UTC]

I'd be a liar if I said Calypso didn't get me that exact same way yesterday. She was pretty gentle but I've still got wee claw pokes on several fingers. That's the price to pay for a half-second of feeling that marvelous soft belly fur!

Incidentally, that's one down on my personal Feline Challenge list. One by one I'll be doing the other marvelous felines.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

robertsloan2 In reply to Peachfuzz [2007-08-21 12:51:09 +0000 UTC]

Owwwie... yeah, that's what you get for the soft fuzzy tummy fur. Once in a long while Ari will let me pet his tummy. Sometimes that's if he lays on my hand and all I have to do is move my fingers -- then it's okay, then it didn't tickle and he knows who that is. Usually with me he won't claw. The finger-claw was a mistake, he lost his balance and had a claw out for traction.

Ooooh purr! Yes! I can't wait to see the feline flood of characters! Much for your growing cast. I think Geoffroy's Pride is probably going to join the gang. She is just way too cool.

It's as bad as when I went to the zoo. I want to cuddle her and take her home. Hehehe -- draw me as an anthro so I can marry one of your anthro characters! Some long-faced ocelot maybe... or cougar, give you a shot at drawing anthro cougar male? Though if he's short like me, ocelot may be better.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Peachfuzz In reply to robertsloan2 [2007-08-21 17:18:06 +0000 UTC]

Ocelot happens to be on my list. And I could definitely stand to practice with males!

I don't think I'll adopt this one as an actual character, but she is pretty darned cool. Maybe I'll cameo her in my comic, whenever I get that started. I made her especially for you so she's actually yours! Too bad I did this in my drawing book or I'd send it to you.

Robert the ocelot, it is! Their spots are distinctly different than Geoffroy's Cats so it'll be a good challenge for me.

Thank you, Spitzen. Geoffroy's Cats come from South America so I figured jungle scenery was best, but the plants are all from my imagination.
