As the second quarter of the 21st. Century began, it dawn on Washington, that a new type of submarine was needed to patrol U.S. interest, in the new frontier of the North Pole regions. The Polar series was to be built to twelve boats in this class of boats. Of course politics would reduce that number to ten, with the last boats built over a twenty year period, quite different in many aspects, as compare to the first ones built.

Borrowing from the Columbia class of being much smaller, these ships would only become fully Nuclear Powered Attack Submarines, on presidential orders. Copying the armaments of such subs. like the seventies USS Bluefish of past attack submarines. Torpedos that would surface to slightly above the sea surface, flying just below the sound of speed, ability to lay mines, anti-ship missiles from a loaded quick shot silo, on the spine of the submarine, and, a killer anti-sub. missile nickname “Lulo”, that would be considered a tactical nuclear armed(accuracy being moot) sub. killer.

These subs. true peacekeepers, with an innovated triple hull, partially constructed of “Light Titanium”, a metal mixed with a ceramic feature. This kept the sub. from diving, you had to use the engines to make it dive. Also any damage, just turn off the drive, and, it would surface. Still it had eight ballast tanks, two could be flooded with sea water for a faster dive, the other six usually used for the holding tank of marine trained dolphins, and, for additional supplies(fresh water, food, mini sub. sleds, deep sea gondola, and, so forth). The Polar 1 was the first ship of this class, involving these duties(unless activated to SSN status). Its speciality was the conservation of Polar Bears and a logo of a bear was on the starboard side of the sail.
