Description
The issue of Alzheimer's Disease is one that I think of often. What a terrible and strange condition that so many are afflicted with. And while I may ponder the philosophical components or the bigger picture issues of it, there is just the plain old human level of it that has to be acknowledged...This morning my stepfather's father died. He had struggled with Alzheimer's for the last 5 years. And while I did not know him well, the times I met him I found him to be one of the sweetest old guys you'd ever meet.
But what I did see was the pain and anger that my stepfather went through in watching his father fade into the void...
And while I will be there when my stepfather commemorates his father's life in more joyous and pleasant ways, for now, I wanted to express my sadness and feelings about this disease...
All images are my own...

Really cool concept. I like the surrealist look you gave the alzhimer... makes you reflect upon the subject.

so sorry to hear about your loss i know you don't have to be close to someone to feel the pain as it exudes from everyone around you too.
The fractured images of the head is a superb interpretation of the disease and you have done a fabulous job here

Stunning and powerful..such a imaginative, honest and moving expression of such a terrifying and mysterious condition.Your thoughts and feelings, not only about Alzheimer's, but about your stepfather and his father..are beautifully expressed. This is an amazing and touching tribute, created with respect and dignity.I'm so sorry for your loss

Wow, your comments are so very thoughtful and touching and detailed and I really really am grateful for them. I was a little worried that the picture would seem too dark too soon and that my mom and stepdad might not like it... he hasn't seen it yet but she has and I think she really liked it but it made her sad too...
And you nailed it with using the word "mysterious" to describe the disease...
I am glad that you enjoyed this picture... thanks again for you feedback and support with my work... I am honored by all your kind words...
