Celebrating my birthday in style this year at the Laxmi Niwas Palace in Bikaner!

It's been a really amazing day, we've seen some beautiful palaces, perhaps one of the nicest Rajasthani forts I've seen so far, (and I've seen lots of them) visited a master miniature painter, and a camel wool shop. That last one may sound uneventful, but your man offered us (Brother-in-law and I) a 120,000 Rupee scarf made out of Antelope wool from Ladakh. Why so costly? well "it's the finest grade of wool," he says, and, rather matter-of-factly, "it's banned."

So yes, I saw the Maharaja of Bikaner's tulwar collection (and biplane), was offered forbidden antelope wool, and ate a Thali for dinner that could feed a family, and I'll be sleeping the night in a palace, it's been a great day.

Look for a pinup to drop in a half hour or so, I scheduled it before I left the US in February.
