New Hope and Ivyland 40 taking the excursion back to North Wales passing the several crossings on the way to the station. 40 was built in 1925 by the Baldwin locomotive works for the Lancaster and Chester railroad in South Carolina, 40 was then retired and purchased by the Cliffside railroad. During her time at both railroads she was a freight enginer hauling mainly textiles and scrap. After the Cliffside dieselized its routes 40 was brought back to Philly to Steam trains Inc. (Later known as the New Hope Steam Railway and then to today's New Hope and Ivyland) and has since then operated as the main steam locomotive between New Hope and Lahaska. She was sidelined not long in 1967 in favor of Ex CN 1533 who was found to be easier to operate. She was retired in 1987 from operations until being refired in 1990 and has ran ever since.
