Description
Central Asia is usually considered to be the "backyard" of the Russians. A historically neglected zone, both by the governors of the land and the international commmunity, it was unsurprising that the grand campaign to restore order to these unruly lands went somwhat unnoticed. The Russians carved up the land and distributed it to these new, artificial nations, the political boundaries and geography now benefitted Russia's interests in the region. Iran and Afghanistan obviously remained out of this "crusade".
