Description This drawing is more of a personal one for me. About a year ago I was thrown into a really difficult period of my life that I had absolutely no control over. Without even realizing it, I had taken everything upon myself and tried to control everything, thinking I’d been giving it all to God but in reality I was holding on with tight fists.

Completely stressed out and at my breaking point, I talked to my youth pastor one night and it really made me realize how much I’d placed on myself. He shared 1 Peter 5:7 with me and told me this burden was not mine to carry. He asked me to hold out my hand, and look at it. Then he said, “Whenever you feel like holding on and taking everything onto yourself, look at your hand and remember that He’s the one that died on the cross. He’s the one who can carry this.”

1 Peter 5:7 has become one of my favorite verses because God showed me what it means to live out giving Him my anxiety, and resting in the promise that He’s always with me and works everything together for good.

Tools used: graphite pencils (6H, 4H, 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B), PrismaColor pencils, tissue and tortillans for blending, reference picture of my hand. Male hand stock by =Fairiegoodmother - [link]
