The voices in my head
Fuelled by misunderstandings.
But perhaps they would be better
to embrace
when those around me look at
this, as though it were a choice.

Medicate to over comphensate
Mass produced chemicals
that my brain wouldn't know it was without
if you didn't feel the need to diagnose.
Mental health is now a tax write off
glamorized to the point of self contempt.
What about those without
-the newest prescriptions,
-the therapists to talk me through,
its costing
more every minute
and I'm stuck dialing the 1-800 number
Explaining away my 'moods'
as teenage angst
Finding myself behind the
mirror
Exploring the medicene cabinet
for identity-
or rather
a means of expressing someone
acceptable in this society.
