Description
That morning Douglas Patterson Jr. receives a message from Thaddeus regarding the situation with Miriam and her injuries. Douglas arranges for a doctor to go to Thaddeus room in order to tend to Miriam. Her burns are not survive but they cover her arms and torso.
While the doctor attended to Miriam, Thaddeus quickly rushed to see Douglas. Both men were aware that the situation was now grim.
Douglas frowns, "did the doctor state when Miriam might recover?"
Thaddeus grimaces, "we expected too much from the Scarlet Avenger. She did now say what happened to her. She just muttered 'too many'. I gather she was overwhelmed. I heard about the fire by the docks. I am going to assume that she was there."
Douglas nods, "my sources with the Watertown Constabulary say that the fire was likely set after a burglary. That she attempt to disrupt it seems likely. Now we have to wait for her to recover. Burglaries, robberies and smugglers will ruin this town. God knows when the next shipment of opium arrives. That will only make things worse."
Thaddeus tries to smile, "yes but we still have a dedicated constabulary and a good investigative team."
Douglas laughs cynically, "all that is left of that team is you!"
Thaddeus smirks back and rises, "well one is better than none." He leaves the office.
Thaddeus sighs, "weeks."
Douglas shakes his head, "that is bad. With these gangs running ravaging Watertown, the Pattersons don't have their most powerful weapon."
