Description My throat becomes blocked and constricted.
My lower lip quivers.
My eyes well up.
Immense pressure pushes outward,
Trying to release
What I’ve held at bay
For so long.
Too long, it seems
For the pressure isn’t enough
To complete a simple act.
Crying is not a sign of weakness
As we are led to believe
To save face around peers.
Not crying, being unable
To cry, to show emotion
That is the weakness.
I am weak.
I need to be strong.
I need to cry.
