stop favoriting this piece of shit photograph. can't you see? i'm connecting how you feel to this photograph by exploiting your emotions which makes you like it. go give some honest critique to people based on techniques and stop giving favorites out based on emotions.Related content

okay -I'm- actually faving this because of the gorgeous light and darkness mix. the person sitting next to the tree is a nice detail though not really dominating the picture, and I think the person looks more lost in thought and calm rather than being emotional, eh, or something.
that's just how I see the picture. yeah. well.

i've just watch again your gallery and fall on this one... and i'd remerber it from the first time i visit dA... and now i saw your comment about it, and if i may.. yes the technique isn't perfect and it's an emotionnal shot... but is it not a part of modern photography then to communicate feeling??
At first, photography was just some scientific experimentation... came adams and the zone system and add some deep to the photo (interpretation of the negatif). Now it's a big medium of communication, not just technique as it was on the 19th century... Knowing this fact, you have to communicate by deferent way, and a big one is emotion! by the light, the compo you add feeling... and this shot is a good exemple! The technique isn't really good... but the feeling is there. Yes it's manipulation in a certain way... but what is not? everytime you clic (from holga to 8x10) you interprete the world around... so manipulate the people.
So don't be hard on this kind of photo... you can be happy that lot's of people react to it... you find a combination that work! Most of the people know nothing about technique on this community (same thing for composition and esthetism...) So let them feel by a language they know instinctly... the mood, the feeling... but hey... it's only my point of view... but if you want, i'm really interrested by hearing your point of view about what's photography to you..

Ever since I first saw this photo a couple of years ago, I've seen it everywhere. Driving on a highway at night and seeing a light shining through the trees, walking through a park and seeing the fog through the lights, seeing someone sitting solitarily in just the right position... I've seen this photograph in real life everywhere.

This is one of the best photographs I have seen on DA. What I really like about it, aside from the intense emotion conveyed here, is that it's human. On this site, as well as in everyday life, I see people trying to imitate what they see in the magazines--the poses, the lighting, the "perfection." While in terms of quality and tone, I do view this as near perfect (note: I don't view anything as perfect), there's still a human emotion to it all, that just makes it feel real. I think we've all felt as though we were sitting alone like that before. It offers a very melancholic sense that is contrasted by the beautiful golden (warm) light.

On the technical side it is perfectly composed and executed. I love the fact it isn't blue for a change. The copperish a better reflection of what is more likely to be seen in real life.
