Then, they com closer, as you sleep, to comfort you in those trashing dreams, standing over you, humming softly, soothing you. By now, there is no way back. They care about you, you see. They wouldn't want you to be hurt, constantly close, constantly warning you of danger, cooing softly, keeping you safe.
In the end, they embrace you, wrap you up and holding you. You will never be lonely again.
