Description
This is my cat. Usually, whenever she's outside and wants to come in, she sits outside that window and meows. Now, I'm outside looking in at her.My friends know that I am a stalwart proponent of digital cameras. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of using light sensitive paper in the darkroom, but I never really got the hang of film; for one thing, I always manage to get my finger in the picture, which is pretty much impossible to do with a nice, clear digital screen. But I digress.
For the most recent assignment in my photography class, we had to get a disposable camera and use it along side our digital cameras, taking exactly the same photos with each. This was so we could compare and contrast the quality of the images.
I was a wreck with ever film photograph I took, unable to see if it came out well or if I'd gotten my finger in the lens and overall, I kind of hated that part of the project. When I got the prints developed, unsurprisingly enough, a lot of the photographs were horrible and not to my liking at all. The subject mater was good, but the disposable camera was unable to properly capture some of my photos because of lighting or other issues. There were five or six photos that I really loved and four that I actually consider better than their digital counterparts.
So this is me--not renouncing my love of digital photography--rather, I'm finally conceding that film is better equipped to take some sorts of photos (mostly outdoors). And now I'm sharing the four photos that came out better than their digital equals. Enjoy.
