Description
Redcones are motile hemophyta on agrona that don’t anchor themselves into the ground and instead slide and undulate on a large segmented foot. This foot has fine grooves that act on pressure differentials and water cohesion to keep a grip on the ground. While generating energy like most hemophyta they benefit from moving by being able to find sulfur by supplementing their diet with microorganisms. One of the main sources of such is dimethylsulfoniopropionate which is widely used by many organisms on Agrona. Some species are known as opportunistic scavengers that will feed on decomposing worm trees and other hemophyta during periods of drought. They are commonly the prey of other creatures and have defensive chemicals they release into the air once they are punctured that attract nearby predators. This often attracts larger predators to come to the redcones aid and these predators don’t disturb the redcones as they are in a symbiotic relationship.
