When I lived as a child
I longed to save the world
As all wild children will

And as my mind was sharp
Like the wind's chill
My likelihood of aptitude improved

But in time my mind would age
As most children's will

And as they say,
A prodigy's impressiveness declines
If their intelligence resides in place

I won't arrive in the nick of time
Like a hero, here to fight for what's right
How can you be the world's savior
If you can't save yourself?

I used to dream I'd end disease
Now, I dream I won't end up on the street

And after all the pain was laid down

When years of tears stain every gown

Even while pointing forwards

Question the point

As you are forced to face the sky

And ask:
What was it for?

Seriously, what the hell was it for?

But take a breath, because
If you can inspire a single smile
In the end, that's more than enough

So, let's have another cup of tea
