Description
long story short...finally get results of biopsy test which was okay-ish...well it's not a really bad outcome. Downside is...is it treatable or not...don't really know...the doctor doesn't seem to know and seem to guess what it is and just prescribe medication for it, whether it works or not, have to wait and see. One of the medication wasn't in stock and annoyingly Ling Ling and her mum had to wait hours till almost the hospital pharmacy closing time just for the doctor to prescribe an alternative._________________________________________________________________
long story....
More than a week later after the restitch inside the mouth cheek area and hearing nothing from the hospital. Ling Ling tries to find out when will the appointment for biopsy results be. It's been more than 3 weeks. Phoning up the department is not is easy, takes ages like more than 5 minutes for someone to pick up, then says you need to ask the secretary and connects you through. Never ending ringing and no one picks up so gets back to the original person on the phone and says no one picking up and gives the phone number for Ling Ling to phone directly instead to ask about appointments.
After many attempts, Ling Ling got through but got told don't know but will find out and phone back. Well, that never happened. Days later, one morning Ling Ling recieved a text message saying to confirm a hospital appointment on a Sunday. That's weird, usually hospital don't have appointments on the weekend. Ling Ling goes to phone the oral department to find out whether the text message is correct or is it a mistake. It turns out it is on a Sunday. The oral and Maxillo facial department is open all week now because they are trying to get through many backlogs.
Sunday late morning, they went to the appointment. Seen a not very good doctor which didn't even know what he was seeing, thinking this is the first appointment being referred to and rather prefer chatting to the interpreter talking about daily stuff and work when just entered the room. Ling Ling told them they are here for biopsy results not starting right from the beginning again. You would've of thought he actually look through all your recent records to updated ones and knows why you're here for the appointment. Not asking why are you here and then ask the nurse to find the records on computer. Also annoyingly its not the same doctor seen at the beginning following through but instead some other guy takes the case.
The doctor guess it might be two things oral thrush and so medical name for immune not healing itself...lukipedia? likepukia? some odd name which Ling Ling cannot remember. The doctor wouldn't repeat the name of what's it called and started talking about treatment for thrush but the other one there's no treatment for that..After he finished talking and interpreter translate all been said. Ling Ling and her mum gets told to go over to pharmacy at the front entrance of the hospital and that's it, questions about medication weren't answered because the doctor was more interested in continuing talking to the interpreter. So no idea whether interact with Ling Ling's mums medications especially warfarin or not is rather concerning.
They slowly walk to the front of the hospital because Ling Ling's mum is balance problems with walking plus the oral department is at the far back of the hospital. They get to the pharmacy packed full of people waiting, goes to the counter waiting for someone to come to the counter but no one comes. Some person in the room shouts out press the bell to let them know. Ling Ling looks around trying to find the bell. Thought it'll be very obvious where it was but it wasn't. It was on the side of wall with many A4 posters, leaflets stuck on. Eventually a person came out and asked to fill out a small form. Then got told to wait but not told how long.
So they wait and wait. Seeing people come and go getting their medications while they're still continuing waiting in the room. The longest waiting in the room, everyone got their medication and have gone and another lot comes and goes as well. Ling Ling goes to the counter to find out what's happening with their medication and why is it taking so long. The pharmacist apologises and says one of the medication the doctor prescribe has been out of stock for many months and they are waiting for the doctor to prescribe an alternative.
Many hours later, still nothing, the pharmacist chased up the doctor for reply many times and yet he still not replied. Then tells Ling Ling to go back to the Oral department in person to ask receptionist to chase up the doctor with sending the prescription over or just write one where you can go to any outside pharmacy to collect the medication because they close at 4pm which isn't very long.
Ling Ling and her mum heads back to the Oral department, it's a very long walk, so half way Ling Ling tells her mum to take her time walking slowly by herself while she walks ahead quickly getting there within a few minutes. She tells the receptionist in the Oral department and gets told to wait. A few minutes later Ling Ling mum arrives and waits together in the waiting room. 10/15 minutes later the nurse comes out and tells them the doctor has sent over the prescription to the pharmacy to collect. This point very annoyed to have to rush back to the pharmacy way front of the hospital. Again, Ling Ling's mum had to walk slowly by herself while Ling Ling rushes to the Pharmacy before closing time. If there were wheelchairs around, she would've got one of those and have her mum sit in it while she push which would be quicker than her walking, but there was none.
Finally they got the medication before closing time of the pharmacy not hospital. Hospital closes around 8 pm or something. All doors would be closed except for one, it's the entrance which leads to the childrens part of hospital. Ling Ling had once got locked in hospital after visiting hours, very late at night in the past and couldn't get out, it was dark and empty, not a single person could be seen in any corridors to ask for directions out. It's quite creepy, lights are either switched off or dimmed to save electricity. She walked to every entrance door she knows of but they were locked, eventually found one to get outside.
Anyway...Ling Ling searched online about the 2 medications; fluconazole and nystatin whether they interact with warfarin. Nystatin doesn't affect warfarin but fluconazole does, it can increase INR alot. Online says it's best to avoid fluconazole in patients on warfarin unless the dose of warfarin is reduced alot and closely monitored. So in the meantime start using nystatin is okay but the other it's better to start at later a date like a day or two before the anticoagulant appointment which she can tell the nurse on the day and see what the INR is, how big of affect it has and to reduce the dose of warfarin. Hopefully it won't dramatically increase very high.
