Description
Mamoswine riding would have been quite useful in DPPt.In respect of the integration of the drawing into the fideo, I didn’t really have an idea what to draw. All I could come up with was snow, annoying deep snow, the view of the "city" as it appears in the games, Candice, the temple and Abomasnows and I didn’t know what to do with these boring things. Then I asked Amarizo what Snowpoint City makes him think of and he also mentioned a lot of things from the anime while I completely forgot the anime. Then I told him what I thought of and he replied that it would have been great if one could ride Mamoswines through the deep snow like in XY. That gave me the idea to piece some of the gathered things together to a scene of Dawn and Lucas on their way to the temple while Lucas is almost completely covered up by the deep snow (that also means I only have to draw the head) while Dawn simply rides on her Mamoswine and amusedly looks down to him. There would be lots of trees in the background with Abomasnow hidden between them and at least one building to the side that looks like in the anime. I also wanted to put Candice in somehow but neither did I have an idea how to put her in that scene nor did I have enough time to draw more.
Unlike most of Spinda’s Café’s drawing, this one was mostly fun. I have no idea how to draw good looking clouds though which is unfortunate because clouds can be so pretty. I looked at some of my favourite pixel artist’s work but I couldn’t imitate their clouds at all. So I just tried something else and made the edges a bit fluffy. This is also my first time drawing a human in more than 24 × 24 pixels and in a not so easy pose as well. I think it turned out alright, though I spent hours on Dawn’s legs. How does one draw someone sitting on something as wide as Mamoswine? Maybe I should have made her kneel instead but I don’t think it looks like someone is properly riding an animal when they are kneeling on their back instead of sitting like on a horse.
Also, in Platinum, Dawn’s winter outfit has pink hair clips while in the anime she uses yellow hairclips in her regular and winter outfit, at least according to the screenshots I looked at for reference. Additionally, in Dawn’s main illustration for Platinum it looks like her coat either has a hole in it’s sleeve for her Pokétch to fit through or this weird rectangular thing is some kind of holder for a Pokétch. Certainly an interesting observation.
