Mario had a cape in some of the snes Mario games, when you grabbed the feather.
Mario used said cape to fly around. Obviously.
And you would be correct. It is a crossover, of sorts, so I needed to find ways to avoid flat out using Mario characters, and that is how I chose to do it. :U
