Once upon a time...

There was a naughty little patriciate who grew up to be a villainous woman and then grew up to being a cruel contessa.

The Contessa ruled, fittingly, over a small county far from the eyes of a wastrel king. She did as she pleased, and her subjects were unruly. But the Contessa was rich, and paid her men-at-arms well. The small folk were always afraid to revolt against her rule. Soon, they even feared to address her.

One day, The Contessa learned that the Queen of her kingdom would be passing by, and she needed to improve her kingdom. The peasants of her county found a woman with pale skin that they said was a witch, and The Contessa put her to work making her small holding look beautiful. She was made Chancellor of the small realm, and got to work improving it.

The Chancellor told the Contessa of the most up-to-date and glamorous fashions from the city, and of course, the Contessa demanded a new dress to match those in the city.

It was a tight, artificial garment of thick and unyielding sheets that flowed and hugged her body tightly. Deep, royal purple cloth and shining latex the color of night matched with elegant gold-colored ribbons.

"This is too tight," said the Contessa.

"Indeed, but it is elegant. And it's the most fashionable garment you could find." So, the Contessa agreed and wore it.

Soon, the Chancellor told her of more trends from the capital.

"You can't be working with your hands," she said. "That's labor for peasants. And you're no peasant. You must be seen to be above manual labor and the dirty things in life." The Contessa agreed, and the dress was tightened.

A snug corset went around her waist, and elegant gloves with padded mittens covered her hands and fingers. Of course, it was very tight, and very unusual, but now nobody would mistake The Contessa for a peasant. She didn't - and couldn't - do work.

One day, the Chancellor came to the Contessa and told her that she needed to do more than mimic trends - she needed to create them.

"You simply can't be seen flailing your padded arms around. You should find some restraints to keep them in place, unlocked whenever you demand it."

The Contessa agreed.

Later, the Chancellor told her that she shouldn't even need to use words to demand things. She was skeptical, but she eventually agreed. The Chancellor used a spell to keep her mouth and belly full, and locked a mysterious hood over her head. This was a bit much, but the Chancellor always knew exactly what she was thinking.

It wasn't until the posture collar came and there were locks added that the Contessa started to think that this was too much. She tried to speak, but her mouth was filled with a fat gag. She tried to complain, but nobody could hear her. She tried to undo her restraints, but they were locked.

The Chancellor grinned, smiling with a pale, devilish grin.

"You know, Contessa, the King is going to be here tomorrow. He doesn't know what your face looks like. I hope you don't mind if I speak for you. I'll tell him everything that you'd want me to say, I promise."

"Mmmnnfff!"

The Contessa protested, but couldn't escape. She was taken to her great hall, and shown one final piece of jewelry.

"You know, Contessa, if you're going to be truly rich and powerful, then the peasants shouldn't even be allowed to see your pretty face... and you shouldn't have to look at the ugly world. All you need is me, of course, as your proud and noble Chancellor..."
