Description
Wake up. New day. Stop talking like this. I think Ms Anette wants to finish the mission. And I want to help her, because she obviously can't do it alone. I wonder if she's as keen as me to do this – or if she's too afraid. Besides, how are we going to find the rivanto? Anyway, I'm going to talk to Ms Anette, sometime today, but it's still very early. My mother wouldn't even be awake, so I can't tell her where I'm going without shaking her (a very bad idea). So, it would be because of this that I decide to flip through the book again and read a random page. This time I quietly read aloud. "Human transformation and dolet forests. It is possible for humans to turn into animals out of their own control. Normally, being in a dolet forest is the cause of this. A dolet forest is very rare and there is only one known forest on Earth. They are filled with dolet trees which stand very close to each other. Their branches and roots twist together and they make dolet forests very tight places, almost like mazes. It is almost pitch black in a dolet forest, because the highest branches of the trees tangle together so much that light is blocked out, which causes no plant growth other than dolets. It is believed that there are ways to get from the forest floor to the platform that the branches build, which are called dark paths. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you were walking through a dark path or just climbing the trees, so the only creature able to find and use them is tawkens. Only if you can gain a tawken's trust, will they let you follow them to light. The reason people transform is because the darkness can make them go mad and then often change to any animal. If you don't cure yourself fast enough, you will stay as that animal forever, and you can only cure yourself by getting to the light."Interesting, but now the sun is up, it's time to really get started for the day. I race downstairs and make myself toast. Then I find my mother and tell her I'll be off at the library. I eat up, and without waiting for her reply run out to the library. I haven't told you about the route to the library yet, have I? Well, it's kind of fun. There is lots of different ways you can go, like down to the river and across the bridge. Nice memories of sunny days and butterflies. Or, you can go the complete opposite direction, through the woods and through an alleyway (I would not suggest this route), but my favourite and most commonly used way is an awesome shortcut, through a shopping centre, behind the school (It's currently holidays), and across the road. It actually takes longer to explain then it does to use. So I'll go with that one today.
Now I'm at the library, I grab Ms Anette's arm and drag her straight across to the secret room door as soon as I see her. She argues a bit, but doesn't pull away. We open the door together and I get talking straight away.
"I want to find the rivanto, how about you?" I asked. She looked at me, blinked, and responded, "Huh? Of course I want to find the rivanto. Why wouldn't I want to go? But of course you can't come dear."
"You're not going to go without me. That's final, but one question. Where do we start?"
