Springtime was Paimon's least favorite season of all. But he found himself able to survive it by visiting a wolf he had meet in the winter, before he had come to Aryn. Paimon was greeted with high praises from mothers and children alike. But he didn't come to visit them. He came to see her. Azriel was the blind wolf Paimon had aided in hunting a pup-killing lynx. But he didn't think of her as the blind wolf, infact he liked her mind most of all and how elegantly cunning she was. Paimon spent the day catching up with the white lady, enjoying being able to just listen to what she had to talk about, a rare luxury for her as well. Now that the pack's children were safe from the killer lynx, the wolves could start raising families again. The princess, Azriel was expecting and she wanted Paimon to teach them to hunt when they were older. Paimon had met her mate only once, Elgyn. He seemed to be a decent wolf, who was strong and could provide for his family, however, compared to Paimon and Azriel he was fairly dense. Elgyn was small, and Azriel even smaller, Paimon doubted if they could be much use hunting and fighting as they grew older. But that wasn't his place to speak. As Paimon goes to leave, she asks him to return some day soon. Only it turns out because of the hive invasion he doesn't get to make it back upon her request. He leaves her behind, her request is unfulfilled.

It is spring, and something comes to the pack that takes everyone by surprise. The lynx? It wasn't alone and its sibling would quickly wreak havoc on the children of Azriel, scattering the survivor into the wind. To Azriel and Elgyn, the pup was taken by the lynx and eaten.

But fate? Oh, fate had other ideas.
