Description
hey everyone,it's something new and I learned a thing or two (the Asteroids are made in 3ds max this time, but I still had to render it in C4D).
I did everything by myselfe, I didn't use any stocks, except for one satalite photo from NASA for the Planet. Took me quite some time to finish this one, but I am really happy with the outcome.
Programms used:
- Photoshop CS5
- 3ds Max
- Cinema4D
- Apophysis
Tell me what you think!
Have a nice day!
My second DD! Thats so awesome! Thanks to Shue13 for featuring it!
I am greatfull for all those comments thanks everyone, you really made my day!

This is really excellent I love the colors and the background and just the intensity of the whole piece. The one thing that might help that intensity though is the lighting on the planets being enhanced. But really this is so awesome!

Thank you, I am glad you like it that much! also thanks for the advice! I rendered the Planets in 3D but you're probably right, next time I will try to place the lightsource nearer to the planet to enhance it

Judging by your gallery, I bet you will
And besides, big successes are always possible, as long as little failures aren't allowed to get in the way ^^

Maybe the lava needs a bit more contrast though The background and the gas giant's texture both could be better
The rest is nice ^^

any tipps on how to improve the background? I allways struggle with the nebula the most. I might reupload a new version, because of the lava

Just try out some a clouds stocks and do some texturing after that

Philip25 In reply to QAuZ [2012-06-22 15:35:09 +0000 UTC]
yeah, but the thing is that I dont like to use stocks, I spent hours trying to paint it all by myself, but then it looks like crap. So the best way for me is to create fractals and mix it with some painting. I tried to do it with clouds once and it was pretty decent, even if I could do better nowadays but I just dont like it, It feels so wrong to use something I havnt created by myself (even if I shot the photo of the clouds)
but thanks for the help!

I did, but I dont have the skills to paint it all alone at the moment. I guess i need to practice a bit more

hey QAuZ, i tried to do something with clouds, because I had an idea how i could use them without overdoing it (at least i hope so )! I'll still need to practice this new technique, but you might want to take a look? [link]

Hehehe I guess you saw a nebula tutorial has to do with using clouds Anyway, you did nice job with it but what I mean by using clouds for nebula is to get the skin for nebula ( the mainly point) and I don't think everyone is creative with using them
Look at the right use [link]

Thank you yes I think I understood what you meant I somehow did that here: [link] (its not good, just for explaining) but I am not sure if I like to do it that way. So I figured out that I could use them for the shadow part. Btw I havnt seen a tutorial that would explain this technique yet, I figured it out by myself (thats why I need to practice, because its not perfekt yet)
Dont get me wrong, your nebula looks great, especially because it isn't obvious that u've used cloud stocks, which makes it unique! Maybe I'll experiment with clouds more often in my next piece. Thank you so much for your critique! I am glad that there are still artists out there, who are trying to help others

Philip25 In reply to Scorpidilion [2012-06-22 12:54:02 +0000 UTC]
