Week 72 - A pony with power/An overpowered pony!Spoilers abound
At the end of the season 3 episode 2:
King Sombra's horn was blasted into the sky. It could have fallen anywhere but I like to think it fell down in Trixie's camp.
She would have been sitting by a fire to keep warm when his horn fell from the sky and smacked her in the head. She was of course infuriated and grabbed the offending object only to have the essence of the King leap into that amulet/brooch that she has.
New power fills her as she and the King become one. The King had been a wild and unfocused rage. Trixie had a grudge against Ponyville and Twilight in particular and now she possessed knowledge of hatred powered dark magic.
