Description
Conception: Having got a bit bored of trying (and failing) to make progress on the transparency of the fishnets of Christie's dominatrix costume I decided to go through my .blend files to see which ones I can get rid of. Came across this one and decided to play around a bit.Method: Load up file, apply Subdivision Surface modifier to skin textures of right side Christie model. Adjust lighting parameters. Render.
Commentary: Well... for a start the picture looks a bit grainy. Probably need to up the sample size to get a better render.
Often, as is the case for me, I can't really tell much difference between how the textures come out unless they are very obvious. And to me... this doesn't look obvious. Christie on the left uses the basic node set up for her skin; Christie on the right uses the skin node set up by hiddenus. A higher quality render will probably show the differences more clearly. What I do know is the basic node set up doesn't account for specular and bump/normal maps, whereas hiddenus' skin node does. I've been using it since I found it, and it does look better. This just doesn't do it justice... Though the ears do seem a bit more detailed from this angle.
The obvious difference is the use of the Subdivision Surface modifier which I used on Christie on the right, and not left. How the shadows fall on the mesh is slightly different (most noticeable at the armpits). I find I need to use it more and more to the extent I apply it when I add a new character to the model library. Still want to be able to make a better looking hair node set up though; starting to look a bit flat in all honesty...
And yes, she is naked.
