I didn't get to see fraggle's 'til late '86, so the stuff I was able to snag during The Day wasn't as much as I would've liked. Now that I have eBay... well, I gots fraggles all over da joint!

I did get the little 1989 fraggle calendar during The Day though. Dunno if they made any others until last year.

Man, I remember being enamoured with the Fraggles ever since they premiered for the first time on CBC! My folks and I used to always watch it together on Sunday evenings! My favourite was Red, but when my mother took me to the Bay Store to pick out a Fraggle plushie when they first came out, I went for Wembley, and didn't get Red until, like, a year later.

When the Fraggles were rereleased as plushies, my friend Zen got me one of Red. I never did get one of Wembley though this time around, and I always felt kinda bad about that, cos he was my first Fraggle as a little foxykit!

I really wanted a Gobo but the first one I saw was the " retarded " Tomy version. I was so disappointed.... yet I still wantd it. Later that year I got the Hasbro Gobo. He still stays in bed with me. Of course, I have like 50 billion of all the plush fraggles that have made over the years. I just got the Sababa brand " Fraggle Fun Packs " the other day. They come with 2 'lil beaney fraggles and a DVD. They'z da keeeyooootest!

There's still on-line stores that have the new fraggles. Maybe you can snatch Wem from one o' them?

Yeah, the Tomy versions were a little 'off'... But I've always still been impressed with them, regardless. That wasn't bad for a first shot, and they look 'Muppety'. I didn't like the Hasbro versions at all. They looked too cartoony and run-of-the-mill.

As for the Sababa plushies, there's a SunCoast viveo that has the 3 boys for sale over there. I think I might go this week and snap them up if they're still there.

Though I dunno. Red likes having the house to herself!

The Tomy one's looked good 'cept for their heads. Although Tomy Wembley had the best head of that line. Gobo just looked goofy. Heh heh, one of my Tomy Gobos had " removeable " clothes so, since my Hasbro Gobo's getting a bit faded in the stripes, I did some swapping. No one got left in the nude though.

I thought the Tomy Red looked pretty awesome as well! Wembley was cute, but they got his muzzle wrong. Boober wasn't too bad, either. I think the freakish ones were Gobo and Mokey.

The headfur couls have used a littl work too. Even as a kid, to me they always looked like they'd been dunked in the Fraggle Pool..

Red & Boober weren't that bad either. Gobo & Mokey though... AND Matt. It's a shame cuz their outfits were about perfect. They just didn't mass-produce well cuz I have pics of the prototypes and they look nice. Ya had to be careful with their hair-fuzz too. It'd frizz up to the point-of-no-return if you umm... touched it too much. The yarn hair of the Hasbro gang was better but Sababa seems to have found the best way to do fraggle hair... well... 'cept for the actual puppet versions.

Well, the puppet versions have feathers for headfur, so yeah. But I agree, I am really impressed with Sababa! The tails are perfect! The hasbro ones I also didn't like because I thought their heads were too big. I'm surprised they're so rare though!

As for Tomy, yeah, I guess it was an eyelid issue. they had snags with. And yeah, I can relate about the headfur. Wembley's became very matted, cos I took him everywhere, and he even suffered the fate of being stressed in Cabbage Patch Kid dresses at one point. *snicker*

Yeah! My Boober puppet has the feather hair. It's so light & airy. It always flutters when the heat goes on. The Hasbro ones weren't very accurate but they're closer in scale to the real ones methinks.

Lilifox In reply to Phraggle [2005-11-11 05:37:22 +0000 UTC]

Possibly. The Tomy ones did have the whole size proportion thing going though. Dunno if Hasbro had that or not. As for Boober, I still think that is way awesome! And his hair serves a purpose!

BTW, I hope your happy. Last night I dreamt I was being chased by a Tomy Gobo plushie! :scared:

Phraggle In reply to Lilifox [2005-11-12 22:57:15 +0000 UTC]

The Hasbro ones were all the same size... which gave Wembley kind of a gigantic look next tot he rest. I still like them the best though even if their accuracy isn't perfect.

Hair is nothing if it's not functional.

Sure it wasn't that walk-around Gobo chasing you?

Lilifox In reply to Phraggle [2005-11-15 01:07:26 +0000 UTC]

Not too surprising about Wembley, since he had a bigger muzzle than the others.

As for Gobo, now, I KNOW it was that Tomy one. It was scary cos he kept showing up EVERYWHERE and, like, lounging there..
