After burning over 350 images on wood (giving most away on park trails), I decided to get back to my model creations. What I have tried to create is a CH-53 E Super Stallion helicopter flown by the Marines. The basic model was first delivered for use in 1966, and it is still used today. Due to the basic robustness of the original design, they installed a third engine on later models to lift even heavier materials (16 tons) and more personnel. I have made this model from very delicate brass wire, assorted brass tubing, copper circuit board material, brass paper fasteners, and a few oddball parts from scrounged electronic devices. I did not keep track, but this project took about 6 hours a day for three weeks in order to make the overall design, manufacture the parts, experiment with pre-assembly and then a final assembly. I was pleased with the machine gun. The basic structure was the paper fasteners, and the bullet belt was made from a spring that I hammered flat and bent to shape. It did not photograph well in my finished pictures. I do not have a good camera or lighting, but then I have to say that every time I post pictures. Maybe I should get the stuff I need eh?!
