It's nice to get feedback, but sometimes the technical side can be a bit much. No need to get too technical when you have produced such a great shot!
The greatest shots are sometimes achieved by being at the right spot at the right time

Stunning image - well noticed! Sunset through a raindrop - this is one of the best raindrop images I've seen on dA, and there are a fair few!
I don't know if you could ever have achieved the depth of focus you wanted - optically, the refracted image of the sun & branches is in a wildly different place to the drop itself. Stopping down lots (f22+) might have helped, but you would likely have blurred the shot with the consequently slow shutter speed. Or had to cope with the grain of high ISO speed. Me - I think this is about as good as droplets get!
Well done!

Thank you very much for the fav and in-depth comment. I really appreciate it. I'm still trying to get my head around many concepts in optics. I wanted to capture the scene through the raindrop so I chose an F-stop of f/4. I also believe that the background is blurred because the point of focus was placed near the refracted image formed at the separation (curved plane facing the photographer) of the two optical media, water and air. But I'm still very much an amateur with a lot to learn and I could be wrong.

Without some really smart computer software, I would hate to try to work out the details! I can't even begin to think where everything was really focusing.
Sometimes taking a number of shots with different DoF does it though - and at the end of the day, that's all you can really change anyway.
And this is DeviantART, not DeviantSCIENCE So long as you are producing beautiful images, its fine!
