Personality-
Cute. But a simple farmer girl unused to the big world. Admires hungary. Just a huge sweetheart with all the innocence of a child somehow intact. Likes to make people happy. Likes to listen in on conversations and know things she’s not supposed to know. Hides feelings because she does know she's supposed to be the cute one, and it doesn't really bother her too much, but it gets tiring sometimes.

 Listens, sweet, caring, happy
 Naive, timid, nosy, hides feelings

Likes: gardening, flowers, quiet afternoons, when it’s cloudy but not raining yet, purple, making others happy, eavesdropping, serbia, hungary, being outside
Dislikes: fighting, having to deal with the aftermath of fights, being alone, not being able to move, having her braids yanked, lifelessness, being separated from others,

Extra-
Mara is a form of Mary in both Serbian and Hungarian. She has the same last name as Serbia being a region of his.

Relations-
Serbia- her big brother who she adores, but also thinks he needs to lighten up and stop being so clingy. She'll be on his side for most things, but is generally too shy to say when she doesn't want to be
Kosovo- her big sister who she misses. She gets why kosovo wanted to leave, but still wishes she didn't.
Hungary- thinks she's really cool and a great role model and wants to be her when she grows up (tbh who doesn’t)

History-
  • While the area had been inhabited and filled with different duchies and such throughout history, it wasn’t until 1526 that a personification finally popped up
    • Present day Vojvodina’s area has been owned by many different people. It was settled by Slavs, became apart of the Bulgarian Empire for a while, then the Byzantines, then the Magyars arrived and began to take control of the area. In later periods, the area would switch between being owned by Hungary and Serbia.
  • She was born in 1526 during a short, failed attempt at independence, but it was around this time that the area was beginning to get known as being a Serb area not part of Serbia. So, she was born as Little Rascia, a cute, little toddler.
    • The area even then was predominantly Serbian ethnically. While Serbia only owned a small part of it, the area began to be known as Rascia or Little Rascia because of the Serb population). When the Ottoman Empire took over the area in 1526, a Serb named Jovan Nenad used the confusion to declare it independent, though this only lasted until 1527 when he died. Rascia is an old name for a former medieval Serbian kingdom, and after became a name for Serbs living in Habsburg lands.
  • She was a part of the Ottoman Empire for most of the first half of her life, and going by her big brothers advice, she tried to be as rebellious as a toddler could be.
    • One of the largest Serb uprisings was the Banat Uprising in 1594 against the Ottomans.
  • In 1699 she was ceded to Austria. There was much fighting on her border, most of it being a military frontier, so she was rather weak and frail. However, Austria was surprisingly nice to her, giving her all sorts of rights that other occupied areas didn’t get.
    • The Habsburg’s received the area through the Treaty of Karlovci in 1699. As most of the area continued to border the Ottoman Empire, it was considered the military frontier and saw much fighting over the next century. While many Serbs were killed during the fighting, many also immigrated from the Ottoman Empire to the Austrian Empire. This large emigration led to the Habsburgs promising religious freedom, recognition as a nation within the kingdom, and the right to have autonomy in one voivodeship. This was not called upon until 1848.
  • In the later 1700s however, as fighting began to die down, she got better and began to even grow to looking around 6 years as culture began to flourish.
    • As the 1700s went on, less land was designated as the military frontier. Many people from neighbouring areas migrated to the land, such as Hungarians, Germans, Romanians, and Slovaks. This led to the area being one of the most ethnically diverse in Europe, with no group having the absolute majority. Vojvodina became a cultural center for Serbs with Novi Sad even being nicknamed ‘the Serb Athens.’ The area prospered economically, religiously, and agriculturally.
  • However, 1848-49 wasn’t very fun, with the revolutions going on then giving her many casualties. She used one of the promises Austria had given her to have her own official, but it didn’t go well at first. Eventually though, she changed her name to Voivodeship of Serbia and Tamis Banat. This did not last long, and soon she was absorbed into Hungary’s land, though the name Vojvodina would continue to be used.
    • When Hungary began its revolution of 1848, it included Vojvodina in its land. The predominantly Serb area used the right it had been given to become its own voivodeship to express individuality from the Hungarian rulers. Hungary attacked, and Austria sided with Hungary at first, then decided to turn against Hungary later in the revolution, supporting Vojvodina. Vojvodina and Austria then teamed up to stop the Hungarian revolution. It retained it’s voivodeship until the Austro-Hungarian Empire was formed and most of the area was absorbed into the Kingdom of Hungary.
  • After the war, she finally joined back up with her brother and sister into the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. During WW2, she was split up between several countries, staying again with Hungary.
    • While the 3 areas that make up Vojvodina briefly tried independence, only after a few days they joined with the Kingdom of Serbia and then the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes. During WW2, it was split up between Hungary, the Independent State of Croatia, and German occupation. Many crimes were committed, with almost all of the Jewish population being killed, and later most of the German population being deported.
  • She got her second growth spurt during the second Yugoslavia, when she got more autonomy than she’s had ever. It stopped when the autonomy was taken away, leaving her around 9 years old. Nowadays, she lives with Serbia, allowing him to do most of the work, as she doesn’t have as much power as she had before.
    • Vojvodina was given back its historical name as an autonomous region of Serbia. In 1974, it was defined as one of the subjects of the Yugoslav Federation, giving it almost as much power in the country as the other states. However, the autonomy was revoked in 1990, and was only given back to a smaller degree in 2002. Today, it remains the agricultural center of Serbia, and the most ethnically diverse.

REPUBLIKA SRPSKA
 Name-Adam Kovačević/Адам Ковачевић
 Age-4
 Birthday-9 January, Capricorn
 Languages-Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian
 Religion-Eastern Orthodoxy

Description-
Short dark brown hair with a side part
 Child pudge
 Murky gold brown eyes
 Olive skin
 108cm/3’6

Outfit-
A maroon polo shirt, jeans, and black velcro sneakers.
A very long sleeved white shirt, a dark red vest, dark grey baggy pants, a red cloth belt thing, and brown shoes.

Personality-
A smol terror of a child. Will %100 temper tantrum in a large public space and make people feel awkward. Has entirely too much energy and yells too much. Such a hassle to take care of. Can be very cute and cuddly though when scared or sad or when home alone. Can get distracted surprisingly easily, but it goes both ways. Good at sneaking away and hiding.

 Energetic, cuddly, playful, bold
 Quick tempered, aggressive, moody, stubborn

Likes: serbia, playing games, gardening, being loud, being praised, shiny things, collecting things
Dislikes: BiH at times, being told what to do, thunderstorms and other loud severe weather, wearing weird clothing

Extra-
Adam was chosen because i thought of it while half asleep tbh. He shares the same surname as Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Relations-
Bosnia and Herzegovina- his parents so to speak. He likes them because they give him stuff but in all his toddler knowledge, he thinks they're too controlling and tries to rebel all the time.
Serbia- thinks he's a good role model. Has playdates with vojvodina all the time to talk to him (and because he likes vojvo but also because serbia’s there)

History-
  • He was born in the early 90s, during the ethnic tension build up right before the Yugoslav Wars broke out into fighting. Intense fighting was what he was born into and it shaped him into being something of an aggressive child. He hasn’t really aged much since then getting only to around 4 years; this is because his total age is only around 25, he’s only a region, and kind of a poor one too.
    • The Republika Srpska tried to breakaway from Bosnia and Herzegovina when the country itself broke away from Yugoslavia. The area was primarily made up of Serbs, who thought it best that they belong to Serbia as one whole Serbian nation. When the Bosnian government refused to let the area, almost half of Bosnia, secede, they declared themselves independent and attacked Bosnian government held lands. They continued this with Yugoslav backing until Bosnia and Croatia made an alliance and began to get land back, leading to the 1995 Dayton Accords. This combined the areas back together, but rather segregated and decentralized.
