It can't possibly last--but just for a moment it is worth worlds.

Commish/request/gift art for =imaginarium , who asked for Jareth'n'Sarah fluff but nicely allowed for me to add angst to my taste. J/S is inconceivable to me otherwise.
As usual, any stories or lines that come to mind are welcomed.
Pencil drawing (in the wee small hours) and a little Photoshop CS2. I may scan this again with a better scanner and take it further some day.
In the meantime, I hope the fanart bunnies will bugger off and let me get some real work done, damnit!

You have captured my heart but it's ok. You can keep it. I also can't picture J/S without angst. I've read a couple of fics in which Sarah just goes "Eh...what the hell, why not?" and collapses into Jareth's incredibly sexy arms. You did a magnificent job of displaying a couple that isnt perfect or just fluffy and Sarah looks as if she's matured. I also love the Jareth's expression.

J & S having a huge angsty rant at one another and that blatant attraction between them finally getting expressed somehow, however, is, as far as I'm concerned, the whole point of Labyrinth fanfic and fanart.

Oh my god, how gorgeous... this is my favorite fan-pairing of all time. As much as I love them together, you're right, I cannot see it being easy and there has to be some angst and heartbreak somewhere. They're both too hot headed and stubborn for anything else. You captured them _perfectly_.

I just resaw Labyrinth a few weeks ago, purchased the DVD, and realized that this was my first approach to sexuality and platonic in a way love.
I was 10...and, well still shiver when I see David, expecially while interpreting Jareth.

It can't possibly be meant for kids. Not when you're casting such the uber-sexually-charged Bowie as the ambiguous villain. I think a lot of us were thrilled and weirded out by that when we were kids... and here are the consequences.

Did you saw the special content and the making of? I'm always amazed of how people once was able to make such great movies with a few basic tools as animatronics, puppetteers...every time I watch it I'm in awe, I want to do something like that!

i like sarah's hair here and how Jareth's coat flows down behind her, it almost creates the illusion that her hair is larger and longer. His hair however seems .. smaller than normal.

You know, I didn't notice that thing with her hair and his coat. And yeah, I kinda tamed Jareth's mop... both because I wanted him to look just a little diminished, and because I thought he already had a bigger head than her.
The way I see it, Sarah is sort of ... resigned and tranquil at this point (Whatever happens next, this is where I want to be now...); and Jareth has more problems letting his defenses down. Or else what he planned as just another trick is actually bothering him far more than planned...

Ah, I love Jareth...and then the realization hits me that it's David Bowie and I laugh uncontrollably.

okay, this totally reminded me of a bit of a labyrinth story I wrote a long time ago. sarah's wearing the wrong clothes, but this just fits to me. enjoy!

It was cold, terribly cold. There wasnβt a blanket within arms reach though. Jareth grumbled something and sat up- the Moon protect him! He had actually fallen asleep in his clothes. The outfit Froud had so diligently made in such short time was now stained with food and wine. Iβll never wear this again. He tried to sit up. βMy head is killing me! Too much wineβ¦too many females! Why is it so cold?β He squinted at the room. Not a single candle was lit. Moonlight though bathed the room from the open doors that led out to the balcony. Cursing he began to struggle off the bed. It suddenly became an enormous piece of furniture, quite the length to cross. And with the incredible pounding going on in his head he felt he would pass out before he could get to the edge. He dropped to his knees on the cold stone floor.
He pulled himself up by grabbing onto the bed sheets. His eyes would not focus; he felt as if he could vomit. The distance to the window now seemed the span of an entire field. βBut Iβve got to close the stupid door. Itβs too cold. Whereβs a servant when I could use one the most? Lazy, lazy creaturesβ¦β He stumbled against a chair. βWho put that there? Iβllβ¦Iβll have to move it in the morning.β He tried to move, but his feet seemed to have lost the ability to walk one in front of the other. Falling back against the chair, he froze. Someone had laughed; a giddy, happy laugh had rung across the room. What? It came from outside. Who could be out on the balcony at this hour? A glimmer passed across the doorway. A beautiful woman stood there: white robes hung beckoningly across her body. The folds of material swayed in a light breeze. Her dark hair caressed her shimmering shoulders.
She was smiling- she laughed. βOh, Jareth! What are you doing?β She stepped into the room.
βI was coming to close the doors. Itβs quite cold outside you know.β
She snickered. βNo, Jareth its actually quite nice out.β She came towards him. He noticed suddenly that it was comfortably warm. It had always been warm. There was something hauntingly familiar about her eyes, her body movements, and the tone in her voice. Casually she came and put her arms around his neck- she kissed him playfully. Her smell eased the pain in his head.
βSarah?β
βYes Jareth?β she rubbed his nose affectionately.
βYouβre here! How long have you been here?β
She giggled that most enjoyable laugh. βIβve always been here Jareth.β She suddenly pressed herself against him and kissed his lips.
This felt real. This affection was real. This was nothing compared to the empty praises of some lady goblin. He was holding what he truly desired; what he truly loved. Nothing except her smell could ever ease his pain. No one elseβs touch could ever excite him like hers. Not another voice could cause him to smile so sincerely. He held her tightly, and let her talk of all her adventures. She had been with some elves. One of their kind was actually accompanying her on her journey. She had just told him about Hoggleβs grave, when she suddenly pulled away a little and looked toward the open doors. Her eyes avoided his as she asked, βDo you truly love me?β
βYes, of course I do.β
βThen why did you spend the night with your female servants?β
His heart swelled. βIβ¦I donβt know why.β
She looked toward the door again. βWait for me Jareth.β
βNow wait: do you love me?β
βJust wait for me.β The eyes that turned on him were suddenly very dark and very empty. βI must go now.β
βGo? No, Sarah you just got here. I canβt let you go, not now that youβve been here.β
βItβs not time.β Her eyes suddenly came alive. She laughed. βIβm coming.β She was back in the doorway, smiling looking as beautiful as she ever could be. With the sound of her intoxicating laugh she was gone. In the opposite direction a shadow passed over the wall.
