Description
I started etch a sketching a few days ago and this is what happened. I've always been interested in fantasy-oriented environments, and decided to invent a quasi-aquatic prehistoric kind of scenery. I estimate this took about 3 hours. No references were used, and no sketching or conceptualizing was done beforehand. I started with one thing and kept building upon it until I felt it was complete.
EDIT (7-28-12): I'm so thankful for being awarded a daily deviation for this piece. It was a labor of love, and my favorite thing I've done all summer.
EDIT 2 (4-14-20): I updated the main file with a better quality photo!

Creativity at one of its finest. The scenery looks amazing, and I really like how everything on the outside looks so simple contrasting with the sketch. A well deserved DD.

In my opinion the pocket one is easier to use... it's less intimidating to think of filling the whole space X3
Don't get me wrong, I'm not the artist of this peice, but I etch-a-sketch too lol.... see on the pocket I can do stuff like this: [link] but with a full size the best I've done is this: [link] which is obviously not as good even though it was made like 5 years later

I dunno, I have a pocket etch-a-sketch too and it's about 1" x 1.25?" and I think I've lost it, so... I really can't quite get the hang of it. TvT

Maaaaybe like 3 and a half.
It takes just a little more time for me to etch something than to draw it out by hand. I don't have to think about which knob does what because I am so used to using an etch a sketch that it comes naturally to me.

Such beautiful art. One thing I could never understand, how does someone even do this. I mean I could barealy use one in general to make squiggles and this is an elaborated masterpiece. However you do this it's fantasitc.

I know this is kind of a lazy answer, but lots and lots of practice.
I started playing with an etch a sketch as a little kid, but what separates me from the rest of those kids is that I never stopped. I started with the stairs, like everyone else. But I found it so much fun that I kept playing with it. Eventually I got to a point to where I got really comfortable with the mechanics, and it wasn't so hard to etch what I wanted on it anymore. After that, the sky's the limit!
