“Everyone stop, please! I have an announcement to make!” Olan shouted from the dinner table, days later after Sparkle got the Perfect Apples.
Everyone froze, who were about to chow down on their food, then they got upset.
“Come ON, I’m STARVING!” Mike shouted with anger.
“Hey, hey, heeeeyyy! Not fair!” Harold grumbled.
“Hurry up, by golly!” BB’s stomach growled.
“Calm down, please….” Olan looked a bit stressed by the yelling. “I will tell you, but don’t snap at me. I’m hungry too, but this is about who’s going on the expedition.”
Everyone became alert, Sparkle’s heart began to race. Was he announcing them tonight?
“I have to tell you that Guildmaster Puffs has finally chosen who’s going on the expedition. So tomorrow I will announce whose going!” Olan told them. “Now you may eat.”
Everyone started to talk, except Team Skull who talked among themselves, about the expedition. Sparkle mostly just ate her food for an excuse to not to talk. When she was done eating, she managed to slip out by herself, outside where the beach was. She stood at the shore and stared out at the sea. She was more nervous than ever. And worried. It was now or never. During the past days since she got better, she and Isaac worked hard to make a good impression, but somehow it felt like it wasn’t enough. Would they make it? Who knows. Sparkle sighed, if only they passed that apple mission but thanks to Team Skull they didn’t. At least they got some Perfect Apples for Puffs for awhile, but Sparkle didn’t think that didn’t really help much. She bet Olan defiantly said things to prevent them from going on the expedition.
“Hey, there you are.” Sparkle jerked around, seeing that Isaac was there.
“What are you doing here?” Sparkle asked.
“Eh, just wondering where you went.” Isaac only shrugged, and stood next to her. "I know you’re worried, I am too, but whatever happens I know that we did our best. However, we might get chosen, I think Puffs was impress with us.”
“Yeah, but Olan seems to have it as his goal for us to not go.” Sparkle pointed out. “All because you blamed Team Skull and they showed us up so many times. At least they stayed back after that incident with the poisonous gas.”
“Uh…yeah…” Isaac seemed effected by that, but he continued before she could ask. “But…they could have killed you if I didn’t get you back in time.” Isaac told her. “I should of said something to Circuit and he could of done something.”
“Well, if you did, they probably would of said it was in self-defense.” Sparkle said.
“Maybe……” There was a long pause before he spoke again. He pawed at the ground with his left foot. “I’m glad to know you’re ok. You had me worried when Chimla said it was serious, but you healed fairly quickly. Except that scare during your second wake up. I guess all those Pecha Berry teas and drinks helped. You sure love those berries.”
“Well, yeah, they’re soft and juicy.” Sparkle smiled. “It always reminds me of strawberries.”
“Strawberries?” Isaac asked.
“It’s a fruit…..” Sparkle started to say, but then she stopped. Somehow she couldn’t really remember what a strawberry was. Only it was something that you could eat and it was soft and sweet to eat. She tilted her head in confusion. “I think it’s red…..Maybe green…..I don’t know, I forget…..”
Isaac chuckled a bit, “You know, it’s funny how you can remember somethings, but yet you can’t remember what they are or what they do.”
“It ain’t that funny.” Sparkle grumbled, crossing her arms. “How’d you feel if you lost everything? All knowledge? Nothing to think back on? Nothing to remember? Nothing important to remember? Even if you had friends, they’re no longer in your memories to remember them!? Even family? Just…..Nothing!?” Sparkle held back the tears. She wanted to cry, but not in front of Isaac again.
“Sorry, I didn’t know that’s how you felt.” Isaac said, regretfully.
Sparkle only flicked her ears, her arms are still crossed, bit upset. Not at Isaac, but with herself. She hated that she couldn’t remember anything of her past. Shiloh mentioned about a friend she had, and Sparkle had a good feeling it wasn’t Isaac she was talking about. Or maybe it was for all she knew. But Sparkle suddenly felt alone again. She had no family. So to speak. She could but she couldn’t remember them.
Suddenly her heart sped up, and Sparkle felt like she had to be somewhere. She glanced around to look with her eyes, but all she saw was ocean and Isaac. She couldn’t figure out that feeling. This wasn’t the first time she felt like this. Why did she feel like she had to be somewhere? She didn’t understand it.
“Sparkle? What’s wrong?” Isaac asked.
Sparkle shook her head back to reality. “Nothing….Just thinking.”
“Hhmmm…..” Isaac tilted his head.
Sparkle sighed. “You know….You never told me anything about you.” Isaac perked up, surprised. Sparkle continued before he could say anything. “About your past at least. Where your from and such. And before you say anything, I can’t even remember where I am from. So I can’t give you answers about mine, when even I don’t know.”
“Well….I…I mean….There isn’t much about it.” Isaac told her.
“I still like to know, if you don’t mind.” Sparkle glanced at him.
Isaac swallowed and his ears folded back, and he was staring at her. There was a very long pause, which made Sparkle uncomfortable. (Why is he not saying anything? And why is he staring at me?!)
“Um….what?” Sparkle asked, which made Isaac blink. “What’s wrong? Why are you staring at me like that? You look like you’re seeing a ghost or something.”
Isaac shook his head. “Sorry, nothing….” Isaac sighed. “I lived with my family in the mountains, far from here. My parents were explorers, so I loved listening to their adventures with my sisters. Though they were gone a lot. Once they were gone over a year, and after that I just decided I wanted to go off on my own to join the guild. I didn’t have….an easy start.” Isaac shook his head slowly. “It took me years to even get here. I kept getting lost and most mons wouldn’t help me. I had to survive, and when I was about to give up, I found my Relic Fragment. And I remembered why I was going to the guild, so then after a few more years. I finally get here. However, the guild was closed because they were out on an expedition. So I had to wait until they got back. Which took them a really long time. I found myself a home, after awhile I thought it’d be easier to have a partner, so I wouldn’t be alone. Which that….wasn’t easy…” Sparkle scoffed in amusement. “And what’s worst is that I lost my Relic Fragment. Which I told you about that before. I practically destroyed my home looking for it and couldn’t find it. Then when I heard the Guild was back I went straight over there. But obviously they were closed since they just got back. I had to wait again, so I decided to look for my Relic Fragment again. Tearing my home up again and I was about to just give up. However, it was then I found my Relic Fragment, under my pillow. I couldn’t figure it out how it even got there when I know for sure I checked there more than five times. So then, I decided to clear my head and then……” Isaac looked at her. “I found you…”
Sparkle perked up and was silent a moment. “Well, that’s an interesting story. You ever going to go back home?”
Isaac shrugged. “Maybe. I don’t know.”
“You have sisters?” Sparkle pointed out. “I kinda figured you’d be an only child considering how grumpy you are.”
“I’m not THAT grumpy.” Isaac argued.
“Well…..When we first met, you had an attitude and grumpy really.” Sparkle remembered when she was still getting used to her body and she kept making mistakes. “And inpatient. And rude. An-“
“I apologized for that!” Isaac took a step towards her. “I’m sorry I was like that!”
Sparkle smirked a little. “I know, but I’m going to bring it up so you can feel bad.”
Isaac rolled his eyes. “What do you want from me then?”
Sparkle shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe you can make it up to me another time. Because I doubt you can restore my memory.”
“I can try to help at least.” Isaac pointed out.
Sparkle just shrugged again. Feeling the pain of loneliness. She wish she could find a way to restore her memories.
Isaac sighed, “I think we better get back. It’s getting late and Olan will flip if he finds us out late again.”
Sparkle slowly nodded, “Yeah, ok.”
They walked back together, still Sparkle had a strange feeling about being somewhere, but what could she do about it? She stopped and stared out at the sea, as Isaac walked away. She had nothing to lead her the way. She was at a lost. She sighed helplessly. (What could I do? Where could I even go? Why does it feel like I need to be somewhere? Why….why do I feel so alone….)
Out of nowhere, Isaac put his arm around her, and smiled, “Don’t worry, Sparkle. I’m sure you’ll remember things soon.”
Sparkle stared at him, stunned what he was doing. Her heart sped up again, but only because he had his arm around her, to reassure her. She felt something, a charge or something related to that, surge through her body. Making her feel nervous, but calm at the same time. For a moment, it felt like the eyes were locked and time seemed to stop. (What is this? Why is my heart beating so fast? Why is he so close? This isn’t right. I don’t understand…Is this what Shiloh was talking about? ‘Love’? I don’t even know what it feels like. Or I don’t remember what it feels like. Why am I feeling this way? I shouldn’t. I need to focus on myself. But I can’t seem to pull away.) She wanted to pull away, but she couldn’t help feeling more comfortable and calmer with Isaac there. It finally felt like she wasn’t alone anymore.
She finally blinked and realized they needed to move or Olan would come looking for them. She pulled away and Isaac seemed a bit confused, but didn’t say anything.
“Ahem…Yeah…” Sparkle sighed. “..Hopefully….”

Once again the night was restless, far away in another hidden place, in a deep cavern. A Time Gear floated in a mysterious wonder.
“There it is! Another Time Gear. The second one……Three more to go…..” Sighs. “It’s so hard alone. If we were together, we would already collected more. I felt nothing of her presence…..Is she dead? ….No….I don’t think so….I would have felt….” Another sigh. “I feel so alone, but I must keep going for her and the world. I must have the Time Gears…..I just wish she was here……to tell me…….For it’s better to have someone than nothing…..”
