behind the playgroundbehind the prison
made of bricks and kids watching television
it is a place that nobody knows
except me
it is a place where you'll see
evening robins and foretelling crows
the creak of a swingset
and strangers, the only people
you have ever met
they skulk past
troubled that it'll never last
the playground pavement
and their nostalgia, it was pent
