Description
Timothy Spall often plays a lot of characters that aren't quite lookers. He played Peter "Wormtail" Pettigrew (Harry Potter series), Mr. Poe (A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)), and Nathaniel (Enchanted). He also voiced Nick in Chicken Run, another rat in a popular English film.Spall's roles connect in interesting ways. Nick is a rat, but there's also Pettigrew who can shapeshift into one. Both Nick and Pettigrew supply vital information/equipment for a price: Nick supplies the chickens equipment for their eggs, while Pettigrew betrays others to save his own hide.
Nathaniel and Pettigrew both worked under major villains they idolized and had self-esteem issues. Nathaniel realized he was being used, redeemed himself, and lived to tell the tale. Pettigrew had friends who cared about him but threw it all away for power and approval he could never get; the lingering goodness in his grubby soul (hesitation to kill Harry Potter due to a life debt) resulted in his own gruesome death.
