Quintin's attention clung to every soft word that his mentor spoke those last few precious moments before the Gladiator had to leave to follow Evander out of the Shadow Empire camp. He had only known Arkita a few months but already he had become someone the now growing apprentice truly treasured. Arkita was smart, patient, the best teacher and companion he had ever known in his short life.....but still the space in his heart ached for his absent mother Valeria.

"Promise me Quintin that you will stay close to the camp and aid the other Gladiators. Try your best but know your limits. You might not be a young cub anymore but you still have a long way to go in your training. War is not a game and mustn't ever be taken lightly" Arkita spoke in a calm, composed manner as he intensely stared into the wide amber eyes of the young Blynx before him.

Nodding, Quintin understood very clearly what he had to do whilst his mentor was away. Even though he might not have the finely tuned skills to kill something larger than a rabbit yet, his small size and determination to clamber up as many trees as possible could make him a useful scout or a lookout to the Shadow Empire camp protectors.

"I promise Arkita.....Sir" Quintin mumbled through the welling of jumbled anxious emotions, automatically tumbling out his polite honorific title for his mentor that he was forever encouraged to be able to drop. "I will do my best, I won't let you down"

As he affectionately rubbed his head against the soft tuft of dark fur on the forehead of his mentor in a fond farewell, Quintin would soon know that Arkita's had a bold final promise of his own to share, one that revealed his intention to bring Valeria back from the city with him and reunite his apprentice with the mother he missed so much.

(Although I really wanted to colour this, at the same time i didn't want colour pencils to ruin it. My mouse is also now failing me and sadly not letting me use my graphic package to colour )
